Yesterday HW Facilities exhibited for the first time at the CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) Supplier Partner Event as a Preferred Supplier. We enjoyed spending time talking to our existing customers as well as some potential new ones, discussing all things HW. A special thanks to Karen at ESG for designing and project managing our recycled cardboard stand, as well as Matt from #HalfTheStory for their life changing biscuits that we gave away on the day. Lastly, a massive thank you to all of our team for your support and making the day possible.

This summer, HW Facilities have been supporting the Million Mile Clean. This is led by Surfers Against Sewage, bringing volunteers together to clean miles of blue, green or city space each year. Surfers Against Sewage are one of the charities we are supporting this year. Our final clean of the season was at Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells on 25 September. After a day of hard work, the team of 26 picked up an amazing 42Kg of litter, and walked a combined 82.5Km! We are thrilled to announce that our recent duathlon event, in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care, was a resounding success, with participants not only reaching our ambitious goal of 847 miles but surpassing it by achieving a total of 1006.75 miles! This incredible achievement is down to the dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm of everyone who got involved. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our suppliers, Simply Washrooms | B Corp, Aerial Direct and Bowak Ltd who all got involved and covered some miles for us! The event brought lots of us together with one goal in mind: to challenge themselves, have fun, and make a positive impact. Whether cycling or running, each participant gave their all, contributing to our collective distance and making this duathlon one to remember. Beyond just hitting the target, the atmosphere was incredible. There was a real sense of community as people cheered each other on, pushed through tough moments, and celebrated the small victories along the way. Everyone played a part in this success. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. Your energy, commitment, and generosity made this event not only possible but exceptional. Without your involvement, we couldn’t have achieved what we did. Our current donation total for yesterday’s challenge is £917.60 and we couldn’t be happier! Speaking with Dorothy House, that pays for 4 nights on site care for someone, what an amazing gift to be able to give a family! We're so proud of Jan for stepping (jumping?) out of her comfort zone to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care. A parachute jump is something most of us will never attempt; we wish Jan all the best this Saturday!
So 6 years ago this was me, I was on top of the world I had just married my soul Mate and we were looking forward to a wonderful future together. But life is cruel 4 weeks before this photo was taken Colin had been diagnosed with cancer of the small intestine and 2 weeks previous had started chemotherapy in this time he lost 2.5 stone but nothing was going to stop him getting married. We thought he had beaten it but it wasn't to be and in January 2020 we were told it was terminal . I became his full time carer as we went into lockdown and colin fought this everyday but he lost the battle in May 2020 only 22 months after our wonderful wedding day. I thought my world had ended at that point but slowly it made me realise that we have to live each day to it's fullest as we never know what is round the corner. This has also helped me to help others who have found themselves in this nightmare. Colin was the bravest man I have met he battled everyday through lockdown he couldn't go out much due to risking catching covid we couldn't have visitors round but he still kept being him till the end. For this reason I am doing a skydive in september in memory of Colin I am absolutely petrified but it's nothing compared to what he went through and I know he will be there with me. If anyone is able to support me in this I have shared the link below. It is for a really worthy cause. One of the charities we are supporting this year at HW FACILITIES is Dorothy House Hospice who do an amazing job supporting families in those difficult times. Colin didn't have that option as I would not have been able to see him. But let's support the families who are now able to have this support. We're gearing up for our next Million Mile Clean! This time we're visiting Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells to clear up unwanted forever plastics, and to help keep the park looking lovely.
