  • Do pre-defined video questions work when interviewing senior finance professionals? There's a question! I was working with a Finance Director, let's call him Mark - and he was looking for a Financial Controller. I suggested that we define some pre-determined questions for the candidates to answer via video to accompany their CV & Overview for our shortlist. Whilst Mark hadn't used this method before, he was really open to it and wanted to give it a go. The candidates on the other hand needed some gentle persuasion as to the benefits!! After all, if you're into the numbers you're unlikely to be someone who loves putting yourself out there on video!! However, all 4 candidates got on board with it and it turned out to be a real success for Mark. He loved the fact that he could review the videos at his leisure, create some specific questions for each of the candidates and also hone the shortlist down a little further. Ultimately, he selected a candidate he was really pleased with and the whole process saved him a lot of time.
