The first ever Ideal team volunteering day was blessed with great weather as we helped Tarner Community Project, a charity dedicated to providing services and all year-round activities to children and young people. Our team worked super-hard all day, cutting back hugely overgrown plants and bushes, weeding and doing general gardening. We also cleaned the outside of their summerhouse building (including some graffiti removal) for the Forestry school, which offers enrichment activities for children with special needs. It was a superb day of team building and physical activity, ending in a few well-earned beers by the sea. We are delighted to have supported the Tarner Community Project in the fantastic work it does, and we all enjoyed the brilliant contrast to a normal Thursday, which many of us would spend behind a screen. Looking forward to the next Ideal Volunteering Day already! #GiveSomethingAwayDay Monday 15th July was National ‘Give Something Away Day’ so we decided to celebrate this at Ideal by organising a Swap Shop! Staff were encouraged to bring in up to 5 items in good condition, that they were happy to give away. They were then able to exchange these for other items. We had a myriad of donations, ranging from household goods, toys, clothes and books to kitchen supplies and unwanted gifts! Any unclaimed items will be taken to a local charity shop. By swapping, we reduce the need for new production, which means fewer resources consumed, less energy expended, and a smaller carbon footprint. Swapping is the new shopping! Hayley Tanner was delighted with the Skateboard Pads and Helmet she got for her daughter! #reducewaste #recycle

Our Wi-Fi technical experts have been discussing the main issues they are asked to troubleshoot. We're keen to hear from as many end users as possible to get a wider perspective on this. If you can spare a minute, please cast your vote on our poll. We'll be collating the votes and sharing back the insights. #wifichallenges #wifipainpoints

It was a great pleasure to host codebar Brighton for their 10th anniversary celebrations. codebar offer opportunities to underrepresented groups to train in coding. It’s a great model and one that has seen much success for their students over the years. Happy 10th birthday codebar Brighton and many more years to come. #coding #drivingdiversityintech
This week, we were really delighted to host a 10 year birthday celebration for @codebar, the charity that runs free programming workshops for minority groups in tech. To be involved with codebar’s celebration after hosting their first workshops 10 years ago was a proud moment. Congratulations to founders and Brighton movers and shakers Rosa Fox, Ryan Hanna, Dot Wingrove and Cassie Evans. We wish codebar every success for the next 10 years. Perhaps we’ll host your 20th anniversary celebration too! To find out how you could get involved and to read more about codebar’s incredible success take a look at: https://lnkd.in/eBuTP52h Thanks to organisers Nigel Tart, Julia Loucks, Scout Burghardt, Mike Brewer, and Husniye E.

Flashback Friday. Almost 10 years ago Ideal hosted one of codebar's first ever workshops in Brighton. Next Tuesday we are delighted to have been asked to host Codebar's 10 year anniversary coding workshop in our Brighton office. And as a flashback to 2014 we even found a picture of that first workshop 10 years ago!
Next week, we’re looking forward to hosting codebar, the charity that runs free programming workshops for minority groups in tech, 10 years after we hosted their very first event in Brighton (pictured here). It seems like only yesterday. I can’t quite believe that they’ve gone on to coach over 18,000 students from minority backgrounds all around the world. They’re always looking for sponsors like us, prepared to host event nights. And they need coaches from the industry who will mentor people through the training. Get in touch with codebar if you’d like to help.
