We help organisations shift to a culture of co-production and collaboration

About us

We are a social enterprise on a mission to accelerate progress towards a future where public services work in equal partnership with people rather than ‘to’ or ‘for’ them so better decisions are made and everyone can experience better outcomes. We support the brave pioneers who want to make this change happen using our expertise in co-production and collaboration. Building bridges between organisations and communities - connecting stories and strategy.

🥳 Ideas Alliance are thrilled to hear that the government will be funding Family Hubs beyond March 2025 🥳 For the past 2.5 years we have been supporting local authorities to embed co-production across their Family Hub networks and we’re excited to continue making impactful change. Through our work we have helped Family Hubs to involve seldom heard families in the design and delivery of services. Infant feeding, perinatal-mental health services, peer support, and parent infant relationship teams have all benefited from asset-based approaches where families voices are not only heard but are actively involved in co-designing the local offers. We’ve also been delighted to share our learning through Anna Freud National Centre for Family Hubs conference and regional communities of practice, Halton Borough Council's Family Hubs conference, Calderdale Council, and at the upcoming Local Government Association webinar. We’re looking forward to collaborating further with parents and carers using inclusive and creative methods such as participatory research, action learning, communities of practice, and participatory budgeting. I’m nearly there. The crazy idea I had to write a book about #alliancecontracting and what we’ve done over the last 12 years – it’s gonna happen! It’s a once in a lifetime experience for me (well, twice if you count a co-edited book from 20 years ago). I now go into libraries and bookshops and imagine the thousands of hours of human effort that goes into each and every book. How do people do this again and again and again? They have my utmost respect! #alliances #authors #publishing

Our Director Lucie Stephens has written a blog for IPPO on early education and childcare and what’s needed in the future (spoiler alert - lots more co-production with children, parents, early years professionals and providers, unions and local, regional and national government). https://lnkd.in/eJQ_Ew9i

Like healthcare or transport, early education is essential public infrastructure. Lucie Stephens from Early Education and Childcare Coalition writes about how to fix our fragile system. 🖊️ https://bit.ly/BlogEECC To find out more about policy interventions that could increase access to early year support for ethnic minority families, sign up to our online event on Oct 3 👇 🗓️https://lnkd.in/ebW3kkcz

😔 Monday morning slump? 😔 Not here! We can definitely recommend a good dose of community research to blow away the weekend cobwebs and kick the week off in a positive way 🤩 Liz and Kate had the pleasure of joining our 6 new researchers as they begin their journey to co-design Calderdale’s Parent Infant Relationship service. We talked about their hopes for the training, their individual strengths and collective skills, and soaked up the power of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s ‘The Danger of a Single Story’. It was an insightful and uplifting morning! And the pastries weren’t half bad either… 🥐 ☕️

📢 "Unmuting those voices whose microphones have been turned off for so long" This was the response from one of our new community researchers when we asked what excites her most about the role. It highlights the power of participatory research to seek out and share the stories of seldom heard communities. Adelle is joining 5 other new community researchers as part of our most recent project in Calderdale to support the Parent Infant Relationship team with the development of their service. The community researchers have a diverse range of lived experiences and are connected to a diverse range of communities across Calderdale. Together – in collaboration with practitioners from the PIR team – they’ll be co-designing a discussion guide which will frame the conversations they’ll be having with parents. We’re excited to follow their journey and discover how the research will help shape the service going forward. We’ll share progress on here. In the meantime, do get in touch if you’re keen to chat further about how participatory research can bring people’s voices into policy, service design and decision-making. hello@ideas-alliance.org.uk Calderdale Council Liz Leach Murphy Kerry Tottingham Adelle A'asante

⭐ What assets exist in your local community? ⭐ Co-production is about discovering just that. It's about connecting people, places and spaces to understand just what is possible when everyone comes together. We're continuing to support Adam Hindhaugh, MBA NPQICL CMgr FCMI and the Halton Family Hubs team on their co-production journey and yesterday morning's 'Asks, Offers and Connections' session was a great example of what can be achieved together 🤩

Early Help Transformation Lead - Family Hubs Programme

Wow, another amazing morning to start the week. Our Families fund is now in full swing. After some amazing coproduction work from February to September with Ideas Alliance CIC and NCT Charity Parents in Mind to look at what families in Halton were saying about their perinatal mental health journey, our Family Fund opened to the community designed to meet some of the gaps in provision. We’ve had such a varied response and today we brought the community together. One of the key principles of the Family Hub programme is CONNECTION and we saw this in abundance today. Organisations were asked to state their ASKS, OFFERS AND CONNECTIONS and they didn’t disappoint. People asked for rooms, and people offered rooms. There were asks for training, people obliged. One lady, not part of the event, popped her head in to find out what was going on and offered to be a volunteer!! 😀So much energy and enthusiasm in the room. And what we have planned to show impact is so exciting…. Halton Borough Council Val Armor Zoe Fearon

Brilliant to see how people working within the Family Hubs approach in Halton are supporting one another and making a difference for children and families.
