Watch this video testimonial from a farmer in Rwanda! 👨🏾🌾 Thank you Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL)) and The World Bank for conducting this study on the impact of our solar pumps installed in Rwanda by our distributor Ignite Power.
In #Rwanda, solar water pumps have significantly improved irrigation efficiency, allowing farmers to cultivate higher-value crops and increase their income. A pilot study conducted by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and The World Bank revealed that 64% of farmers were able to grow additional crops and hire more labor due to increased water availability from solar water pumps. "With current population growth exceeding electrification rates in many emerging economies, there is no time to waste. DRE has a vital role to play in achieving the Cop28 goal of tripling renewable energy globally as part of a just transition." Honored to have my thoughts and words on The National News, discussing Ignite Power's growth and impact trajectory, DRE (distributed renewable energy) vital role in global electrification and sustainability, and the UAE’s position as a global leader in the growing climate tech sector. Thanks for sharing, Zayed Sustainability Prize!
In an op-ed written by Yariv C., CEO of Ignite Power and Zayed Sustainability Prize Energy winner, the focus is on Africa's progress towards the ambitious goals set at COP28 UAE, highlighting the profound impact of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) on local communities. In regions where traditional grid systems fall short, DRE is lighting up homes, powering schools, and driving economic growth, all while harnessing the power of the sun. Ignite Power is a testament to the potential of DRE, providing renewable energy to some of the most remote communities. From Rwanda to Mozambique, millions are now connected, not just to electricity, but to a more sustainable future. Proud employer supporting the DRE and green revolution across #Africa
Scaling climate solutions, connecting sustainable development to a bottom line, carbon credits specialist, British Executive, Author, Entrepreneur | Opinions Mine | Zayed Prize Winner @COP28
Africa's green revolution continues. By 2030, over 3 million green jobs, primarily driven by solar energy projects, are expected to emerge across the continent. This surge in renewable energy and green infrastructure signifies yet another positive leap for DRE and the continent's sustainable development. Ignite Power continues to be a proud employer, supporting the green transition. This promising forecast comes from the latest report by FSD Africa and Shortlist Search, highlighting the significant role of solar energy in creating job opportunities and fostering economic growth. Moreover, the African Development Bank Group has projected that by 2030, Africa will generate 15 million jobs for new entrants to the workforce. Impressively, green jobs will account for 20% of these new positions, underscoring the critical importance of sustainable industries in shaping the continent’s future. Why Private #Businesses — Not Non-Profits and #NGOs — Present the Only Scalable Solution for Last-Mile Electrification in Africa In the pursuit of #LastMile electrification in #Africa, both businesses and NGOs/non-profits are pursuing different pathways to #scale. In a recent NextBillion article, Aneri Pradhan at New Energy Nexus argued that market-led approaches are ill-suited for remote communities, and that #philanthropy should focus more on scalable non-profit models. But according to Yariv Cohen at Ignite Power, when it comes to serving these communities at scale, businesses offer advantages that non-profits and NGOs cannot match. He explores why the private sector’s role is critical for addressing energy #poverty across Africa. https://bit.ly/4bK97g6 #EmergingMarkets #SocialImpact #RenewableEnergy #solar #OffGrid #MiniGrid #EnergyAccess #CleanEnergy #sustainability

The electrification of 660 million people demands the highest scalability possible, especially when it comes to Africa's last-mile communities. Read Yariv C.'s article on NextBillion.net and find out how Ignite Power and other companies are changing the lives of millions, striving to reach #SDG7 by 2030.

After reading Aneri Pradhan's article on Next Billion, I felt compelled to share some insights. Pradhan contends that private businesses aren't suited for last-mile electrification and suggests philanthropy should focus on non-profit approaches. However, I firmly believe that market-driven solutions are the only scalable way to bring electricity to the 660 million people still living in darkness today. Ignite Power stands as a robust sustainable example of this potential. It's always enriching to consider different perspectives, and I'm grateful to NextBillion.net and the excellent editorial work of James Militzer for providing a platform to voice my thoughts and opinions.
