Mental Health Care

Inspire. Empower. Transform.

About us

At Imroc, we are dedicated to transforming mental health systems and fostering recovery-focused, trauma-responsive, and neuro-affirming practices. With nearly 20 years of experience, we lead the way in supporting health and social care services and community groups through training, consultancy, research, and thought leadership. Our evidence-based approach and innovative frameworks empower organisations to create inclusive, equitable environments where everyone can thrive. Join us in promoting hope, control, and opportunity for all. We achieve this using Imroc five guiding principles 1. Bringing together, individuals, families, communities and service systems to work co-productively to identify barriers and finds ways of overcoming these.  2. Facilitating different relationships between health care and social care providers and those who they serve (local citizens, people who use services, families, community resources and groups) so that all expertise and experience is valued. Everyones contribution is important. 3. Building Recovery focused approaches, ways of working that appreciate and build on resources and strengths to inspire hope and belief in possibilities; grow power through learning together so that everyone has more control over their own conditions, treatment and whole lives. And since lives are fully enjoyed in communities, we seek to support people to access opportunities and prioritise the development of roles relationships and activities in communities in their broadest sense. 4. Working across 'place' engaging with local community groups, including those that are hardest to reach, with health and social care services, assets and resources to build their confidence and capacity to be fully inclusive. Actively seeking the views and of people who find services hard to engage with and learning from them. 5. Working individually and collectively to decrease material and social disadvantage.

🌟 Peer Support Relationships are built on eight core principles. At Imroc, we’ve been sharing these principles, and today, we’re focusing on Progressive 🌟 Peer support is inherently progressive, rooted in human rights activism. It’s our responsibility to carry forward this work and drive the movement forward. A Progressive Peer Support relationship can look like: 💙 Encouraging people to pursue opportunities that feel meaningful for them 💙 Seeking liberation from societal constraints tied to mental health labels and advocating for improved support and services 💙 Empowering individuals to explore, unpack, and invest in their vision for the future 💡 Embracing a Progressive approach in peer relationships inspires individuals to think beyond the support they receive today, guiding them toward steps that shape their future. #PeerSupport #Progressive #MentalHealth #CommunitySupport #Growth #Imroc #InspireEmpowerTransform

🌟 Peer Support Relationships are built on eight core principles. We’ve been sharing these principles, and today, we’re focusing on Non-Directive 🌟 In a Peer Support relationship, Non-Directive means creating space for people to discover the answers that resonate most with them. Being Non-Directive in peer relationships means: 💙 Acknowledging that our role is to encourage individuals to find their own direction, extending well beyond our time together 💙 Supporting people in developing their own questioning skills, which can enhance their decision-making and self-reflection 💙 Helping individuals identify goals and create achievable steps to move toward them 💡 Non-Directive support in a peer relationship encourages growth through lessons learned from real experiences. #PeerSupport #NonDirective #MentalHealth #CommunitySupport #Growth

🌟 Peer Support Relationships are built on eight core principles. At Imroc, we’ve been sharing these principles, and today, we’re focusing on Recovery Focused 🌟 In a Peer Support relationship, Recovery Focused refers to the idea of centering the individual at the core of their experience in the context of their own life rather than focusing on a patient in services. Recovery is:  💙 The belief that all people deserve to live a good life and unique to each person 💙 Being trauma informed and acknowledging trauma can happen for many reasons and take many forms 💙 Not the right word for everyone - each individual has the power to define their own experience using language that is meaningful to them Being Recovery Focused in peer relationships inspires hope, encourages opportunity and centres the individual to harness control in their experiences. 🎥 Hear more from Danny Bowyer as he shares his reflections on Recovery Focused in peer support: https://lnkd.in/e8heUE2U

At Imroc, we’ve been sharing these principles, and today, we’re focusing on Community Facing 🌟 In a Peer Support relationship, Community Facing highlights the importance of individuals having a strong community around them as they navigate life’s challenges, emphasising the need for connection. 🌟 Peer Support Relationships are built on eight core principles. At Imroc, we’ve been sharing these principles, and today, we’re focusing on Safety 🌟 In a Peer Support relationship, Safety encompasses physical, emotional, and relational aspects. It is vital in peer relationships, and we can foster it in several ways: 💙 Establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries 💙 Holding space for challenging conversations 💙 Awareness of laws and legislation By prioritising Safety, we create a meaningful space for individuals to explore all parts of their experiences. 🎥 Hear more from Julie Repper & Emma Watson as they discuss safety in peer support: https://lnkd.in/exQ7QF3M

✨ This week, Imroc consultants Poppy Repper, carlina whitmore, and Ellie Manning had the honour of attending BAC-IN C.I.C.'s 21st Anniversary celebration.   💡 The event powerfully showcased the transformative impact of grassroots peer support, emphasising the integration of culture into systemic change and addressing the gaps in recovery services for ethnic communities.   💙 For many, BAC-IN represents more than recovery—it’s a pathway to a life beyond substance use, built on love, support, and community. As Roger Henry beautifully said, “BAC-IN loved me so I could learn to love myself.”   🤝 We are deeply inspired by BAC-IN's dedication to transformation and look forward to continuing our collaboration, championing community and shared wisdom. On Global Peer Support Day (yes there is one!) I'd like to highlight evidence from the independent evaluation of the Imroc peer support training programme which I led with Audrey K Buelo for Matter of Focus. Peer Support training is complex and nuanced and comes with real risks. It requires a considered and values based approach to design and delivery. We found good evidence that the training was working well and a theory of change based approach helped us unpick how and when it worked best. Get in touch if you'd like to hear more about sensitive and meaningful approaches to peer support evaluation. https://lnkd.in/egBxgBwQ

🎉 In celebration of Global Peer Support Day, we want to celebrate the over 3000 Peer Support Workers we have trained over the years. 💙 While we could easily talk about the training we offer and how to get involved, it feels more meaningful to share a personal journey of Peer Support — from receiving support from a Peer Support Worker to now co-leading Imroc's Mental Health Peer Support Training Programme. 🗣️ Danny Bowyer shared his heartwarming and inspiring reflections from his own journey in the below article. 💡 Every Peer Support story is always one full of hope, inspiration and transformation. We would love to hear the reflections of your Peer Support experiences - What has Peer Support meant for you? Let us know in the comments or tag us in your posts ☺️
