We recently hosted a "Working with Employers" workshop, organised by Inclusive Trading CIC and BASE (British Association for Supported Employment) where Disability Employment Professionals (DEPs) explored strategies for fostering inclusive workplaces and building strong, lasting relationships with employers. DEPs gained a deeper understanding of the local job market, strategies for connecting with employers to promote inclusive hiring, and the importance of diversity and inclusion principles. Some key takeaways that the DEPs learnt included the importance of understanding employers to craft targeted pitches and effectively communicating the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities. As the first stop and ecosystem builder for disability-inclusive employment, we equip DEPs with the skills to better support persons with disabilities in their workplaces and promote inclusive hiring in organisations. Read Professor Adam Whitworth's recent article in IEP Journal Number 11 where he explores why model fidelity in Supported Employment matters.
