Trinasolar's International Systems Business Unit (ISBU) has entered into a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with EGO, an Italian energy management company under the Shell Group.   The agreement covers nine projects across various regions in Italy, with a total capacity of 69 MWp. These projects are either under construction or set to begin in 2024 and 2025, and are anticipated to create around 1,000 jobs across nine regions.   Once fully operational, the portfolio is expected to produce 119 GWh of electricity annually, meeting the energy needs of approximately 7,000 average-sized households. Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust (ORIT) has finalised the acquisition of a newly built 42MW solar farm located near Dublin, Ireland. Combined with the four nearby operational solar farms acquired by ORIT earlier this year, the five-site complex now has a total capacity of 241MW, contributing approximately 2.5% towards Ireland’s national photovoltaic target of 8GW by 2030. The solar farms were acquired once fully operational from Statkraft Ireland, which developed and constructed the projects under ORIT’s supervision. The total acquisition cost, including this fifth site, amounted to €198m. Part of this was financed using a €104m 20-year debt facility provided by Allied Irish Bank (GB) and La Banque Postale. Rezolv Energy has secured up to €90 million in debt financing from the IFC - International Finance Corporation and Raiffeisen Bank International AG International to fund the construction of a 225MW solar park in north-eastern Bulgaria.   The construction of the St George solar park is set to begin soon, with the plant expected to be operational next year, according to Rezolv.   In September, Rezolv also announced the selection of three companies to construct the St George solar park. Bulgarian firms Solarpro Construction and CMC Europe will handle engineering, procurement, and construction, while Green Solar Energy will manage the high-voltage work. Highview Power has unveiled a 2500MWh long-duration energy storage project in Ayrshire, Scotland.   The project, based in Hunterston, will provide five times Scotland’s current operational battery storage capacity and is strategically located within the grid transmission network to optimise the use of renewable electricity generated in Scotland.   To mark the launch of the Hunterston scheme, Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney met with Highview Power executives. Macquarie Group will be investing in 5GW of new offshore wind schemes, including projects off the Orkney and Lincolnshire coasts, through its offshore wind development business, Corio Generation.   The announcement was made during the UK’s International Investment Summit as part of a broader £20bn funding package across the Australian-headquartered financial services group’s UK portfolio.   The group also revealed its backing for new solar power and battery energy storage projects, including Island Green Power’s 600MW Cottam solar project on the Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire border. Iberdrola has more than doubled its planned investments in the UK, ahead of the upcoming International Investment Summit in London on 14 October. Through its ScottishPower subsidiary, the Spanish energy company has already invested £30bn in the UK over the past 15 years, benefiting from the country's stable policies and regulatory framework. Following its acquisition of Electricity North West (ENW), the UK has now become Iberdrola's largest investment destination through 2026. With Britain's growing power demand and its energy policies focused on achieving net zero, Iberdrola has revealed a new plan to invest up to £24bn between 2024 and 2028—double its previous target of £12bn for the same period.   Two-thirds of this investment will go toward upgrading transmission and distribution networks, including the construction of a new subsea superhighway, Eastern Green Link 1, connecting Torness in Scotland to Hawthorn Pit in England. The investment is driven by the necessary upgrades outlined in the RIIO-T3 framework, expected to be approved in 2025. Equinor and Polenergia are seeking financing from the EBRD for their Baltyk 2 and 3 projects, each with a capacity of 720MW.   The non-recourse long-term senior debt from the EBRD would support the construction of the offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea.
