Our role is to support the career development of professionals working within the quarrying industry globally.
About us
Comprised of around 3,000+ members across the world, the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) is the international professional body for quarrying, construction materials and the related extractive and processing industries. Membership is open to individuals sharing our commitment to improving standards and lifelong learning. The long-term objective of the Institute is to promote progressive improvements in all aspects of operational performance through the medium of education and training. With a history dating back to 19 October 1917, the Institute was founded from a meeting of “The Association of Quarry Managers”, held in Caernarfon, north Wales. Gradually expanding over the years, IQ now embraces affiliate organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Southern Africa and Hong Kong. Education has always been the driving force behind the Institute, with knowledge based qualifications being provided for over 40 years with a proven track record, it is seen as key in improving competence and upskilling individuals. In turn this benefits both themselves and companies they work for, providing increased motivation, productivity and profit, with further benefits in the reduction in costs and Lost Time Incidents (LTI’s). For further information on the Institute of Quarrying, please visit our website at www.quarrying.org or connect with us via our LinkedIn page.

Another successful cohort of learners for IQ's Mineral Planning for Mineral Planners. To find out more about the course which includes a tutorial day led by Chris, please visit https://lnkd.in/gQc9h9eN
What an immense privilege it is to teach another cohort of Mineral Planners this year on behalf of the The Institute of Quarrying. We must do all that we can to shake the 'dying art' label so often affixed to this skillset and promote the crucial role that it plays in the economy, environment and social setting. MPG is a Royal Town Planning Institute award winning hub for mineral planning, that has evolved from well known regional specialist to achieve nationwide recognition and success in recent years. There is no better place to witness the full range of mineral planning skills, alive and kicking, than at MPG. #minerals #planning #quarry #environment

Apprenticeships can offer the opportunity to both work and to continue your higher education within the mineral products sector. Earn as you learn, by taking a relevant undergraduate and post graduate degree alongside your work, with education costs covered by your employer. It's the best of both worlds where you can use your experience to inform your studies. Apprenticeships provide #skillsforlife and the confidence to boost your career from day one. Too see some of the latest apprenticeship opportunities within the sector, https://lnkd.in/ebens2BC If you're an employer in the sector, The University of Derby Centre For Mineral Products is one of the sector specific higher education providers, https://lnkd.in/emhZQSfu for professional development. #NAW2025 University of Derby
