Over the summer I had the opportunity to visit Knowle West Media Centre along with my colleague Ricky Dearing for their Work Experience programme with local students interested in a career in the built environment giving them a taster of some of the things we do as Structural Engineers. As I am early on in my career I believe that seeing other young people in the profession can hopefully engage others to see how valuable being an engineer is. Whether it is improving our infrastructure or contributing to a lower carbon reliant future; there are many ways an engineer can have a positive contribution on the world. I’m fortunate to be working on the Filwood Community Centre regeneration in Knowle West with Integral Engineering Design. Where the Work Experience Day formed part of the community engagement. Our team of paddlers did a fantastic job on Saturday at The Big Avon Paddle and the weather couldn't have been better. They collectively paddled 53 miles (and have the aches to prove it!) and so far raised a brilliant £400 for Dorothy House Hospice Care which will be match funded by Integral's charity fund. Very well done to everyone who took part 👏 there is still time to donate to this worthy cause, visit https://lnkd.in/eszcbaEM

As autumn draws nearer and the world around us begins to transform with vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, Integral Engineering Design too enters a new phase of growth and change. We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Chris Gross as our newest Director. Chris joined Integral in 2015 as a chartered senior engineer and with his exceptional technical and management skills, Chris has made significant contributions to conservation, reuse and new build projects. His deep passion for historic buildings has led him to achieve Conservation Accredited Engineer (CARE) status, and he will now be taking the lead on the conservation side of our practice. Speaking on his new role, Chris shares: “I am excited to be joining Grant and Claire as one of the directors at Integral. I look forward to leading our conservation and re-use projects with the same commitment to collaborative design that has always defined Integral." At the same time, Margaret Cooke, one of Integral's founding directors and a highly respected conservation engineer, has decided to step back from her director role after 22 years. However, this is not a farewell. Margaret will continue to work with us as a consultant, allowing her to focus more on her technical work, teaching, and engaging with the construction industry at a broader level. As Margaret puts it, this is her opportunity for ‘national level agitating!’ These are exciting changes, bringing fresh perspectives and new leadership to Integral. Yet, our core values will remain constant. We are committed to delivering high-quality service to our clients and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with our external partners. We look forward to the journey ahead, confident that these changes will bring new energy and vision while staying true to the ethos that has always guided us.
