There was a great buzz in the room during yesterday's session of our Women in Entrepreneurship Programme! 🎉 Week 2 began with our attendees sharing and celebrating their wins from the past week, which we always love hearing about. We then recapped the importance of having detailed customer personas and carrying out ongoing competitor reviews, and discussed using the '5 W's and the How' tool to help find clarity in their business models and build confidence in their offering. We then examined the 'Traffic Lights at the Crossroads' model, which helps users identify factors that are draining their businesses, those that are more lucrative, and new opportunities. It was another exciting, informative session delivered by our host Michelle Brown. Thank you to our attendee Katie, owner of the business Mummy-Made Magic, who kindly made some delicious cupcakes for the group! Our hosts Martin Aitken & Co Ltd will be covering topics, including: ✔️ Types & sources of finance - equity finance, debt capital, alternative finance, e.g. crowdfunding, competitions, and grants & economic incentives ✔️ Equity vs Debt - the impact on the business, the balance sheet and the conditions that come attached to the funding ✔️ Valuation – how much do you dilute? ✔️ Due diligence – purpose and preparing for due diligence ✔️ Other considerations, e.g. security, guarantee ✔️ Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and Seed EIS - qualifying conditions and tax reliefs available to the business and the investors ✔️ Why having a ‘Cocktail of Funds’ is likely to be the route most travelled and bringing the cocktail together.
