Last night, Investigo proudly hosted an incredible WomenWiseRise event, focusing on elevating careers and mastering boardroom dynamics in technology. The event was facilitated by Kalina Tomova, Natalie Whittlesey, and Mariam Naskidashvili who did a great job bringing together a wonderful group of people to discuss such an important topic. We heard from inspiring leaders, including Liz Hughes, Carole Kingsbury, and Nadine Thomson, who shared their personal journeys into tech leadership and the challenges they overcame along the way. From navigating career shifts to leading through uncertainty, each speaker reminded us of the importance of relentless curiosity, strong networks, and the courage to embrace change. Key takeaways included: - The power of mentorship and having sponsors for career progression. - The need to be vocal about your goals and ensure you're noticed. - The significance of navigating corporate politics and finding balance as a business leader. A huge thank you to our speakers and all the attendees for contributing to a meaningful and thought-provoking discussion. Together, we are empowering women in tech to reach new heights! As cyber threats continue to escalate, businesses are facing increased pressure to strengthen their defences. A recent study found that 74% of large UK businesses experienced a cyber threat in the last 12 months—a statistic that underscores the critical need for robust security measures. In light of this, the UK government is set to implement new cyber incident reporting regulations in 2025, ensuring that businesses are better prepared and more accountable when managing these risks. Our very own David Manfield Associate Director of our Cyber Security division at Investigo, provided commentary on this in a recent BBN Times article (link here https://lnkd.in/eY35v-Cd). He highlights the growing challenges businesses face in navigating the evolving threat landscape and the importance of recruiting skilled cyber security professionals to mitigate these risks. This aligns with the findings from The In Group's Tech and the Boardroom Report, which emphasizes that recruiting cyber staff remains a top priority for the c-suite (https://lnkd.in/eK7Tegsd). If you're one of the 30% of tech leaders who are facing challenges with hiring cyber experts, our team is here to help. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of bringing together senior HR and Talent leaders to explore the importance of neurodiversity in fostering more inclusive workplaces. A huge thank you to our incredible speakers Tania Martin, Wendy M., Kathryn Cettina, Kate La Trobe, Abigail V. for sharing their valuable insights, and to all the attendees who braved the cold to join us! 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: ✨ 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Neurodiverse employees bring exceptional skills, with around 40% of entrepreneurs identifying as neurodiverse! A diverse workforce leads to innovation, change, and development. ✨ 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝: You don’t need to be a specialist to hire neurodiverse individuals. Simply ask, "What support do you need?"—neurodiversity is not one-size-fits-all. ✨ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: Offer flexibility in how candidates can present their skills (e.g., presentations, videos, written forms). One process leads to one type of thinker—diverse options create a diverse team. ✨ Reframing Neurodiversity: Neurodiversity should not be seen as a disability—it’s a strength! ✨ 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: Neurodiverse individuals can hyper-focus and, in the right conditions, thrive. Small accommodations in businesses can lead to a 20% boost in performance and build highly loyal teams. ✨𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Teams like EY’s Neuro-Diverse Centre of Excellence prove the power of diverse thinking—moving beyond “tick-box” approaches to foster genuine inclusion. ✨ 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Neuro-inclusive environments not only boost productivity by 30% but also increase employee retention to 90%, illustrating the commercial and personal benefits of getting it right. ✨ 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥: Reducing stigma requires company-wide education and support systems. Lift others as they climb, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. ✨𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬: Neurodiversity, such as dyslexia, can be a superpower—supportive environments enable individuals to flourish and inspire others. Special shout out to Gemma Case for organising such an impactful event, and to Charlotte Roberts (Nee Lumley) for introducing the panel and hosting our Q&A. We’re looking forward to hosting more discussions like this—stay tuned for upcoming events! #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplace #HRLeaders #DEI #Investigo
