Updates

  • We are thrilled to announce the opening of a new INVVU Construction Consultants office in the heart of London! Starting from 1st October 2024, this new location will serve as an additional base for the INVVU team and provide a perfectly situated meeting space for connecting with our London-based clients, those from further afield, and forging new partnerships. Situated at York House, 221 Pentonville Road, it’s less than a 5-minute walk from St Pancras International and Kings Cross stations, ensuring easy access for both our team and visitors. While The Barn in Sellindge, Kent remains our head office, the need for a second office closer to many of our clients and new opportunities has become clear. This new space will help us strengthen relationships, enhance our service, and prepare for future growth. Exciting times ahead! 😁 For more information, click here: https://lnkd.in/dmrC8e5w #newoffice #futurebusiness #connections #london #stpancras #consultants #constructiondesign

Tracey Smith, Andrew Thompson and Esraa Hassanain attended a The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) CPD event at the Village Hotel in Maidstone titled "JCT 2024 – Getting to Grips with the Changes," presented by James Sargeant of Quigg Golden The talk provided an overview of key changes which will come in to effect in 2024, including: ✅Modernising and streamlining – Including adoption of gender-neutral language, and increased flexibility around the use of electronic notices. ✅Extensions of Time - New relevant events and relevant matters will be introduced to include epidemics and the exercise of ‘statutory powers’. The time available to the Employer to assess interim extensions of time will be reduced from 12 weeks to 8 weeks from receipt of the Contractors Particulars. ✅Loss and Expense – New relevant events and relevant matters will be introduced including new provisions dealing with unexploded ordnance, contaminated material and asbestos. ✅Liquidated Damages - Where works are not complete at termination, LADs can be levied up to termination and subsequently general damages following the Supreme Court’s decision on Triple Point Technology Inc -v- PTT Public Company Ltd. ✅Payment due date after termination - Addition of a payment due date after termination which will reduce uncertainty. ✅Disputes - A new requirement for parties to notify potential disputes to senior executives to seek a negotiated settlement but this will not cut across either party’s right to refer a dispute to adjudication at any time. In place of a shortlist, parties can now choose their own adjudication nominating body. The CPD was well-received, with INVVU QS Tracey Smith noting that it "provided valuable insights for the team, clearly highlighting the key changes happening this year." Thank you James and the CIOB Team - Beverley Lawrence, for organising another great learning event. #CIOB #learning #CPD #change #construction #consultants #team #development

  • Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, a reminder of the mental health challenges many face worldwide. In the construction industry, where suicide rates are higher than average, it's crucial to prioritise mental health, support one another, and break the stigma not only around seeking help, but also around simply asking if someone is OK. We often hesitate to ask, but starting the conversation can make all the difference. Together, we can help save lives. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealthMatters #justask #suicideawareness #talktosomeone

Last week, Christopher J. Lamb, Esraa Hassanain, Andrew Thompson, and Harry Alexander visited Hamstreet Garden Centre for a client meeting, followed by a contractor meeting with Chartway Civil Engineering. The INVVU team also conducted an informal site visit, inspecting the progress. The base course is completed, Grasscrete installation is nearly done, #culverts and #headwalls are under #construction, and the new car park is set to open the week of 16th September 2024. The project will then enter its second phase, focusing on the construction of a new brick sett plant sales area, polytunnels, and the main extension groundwork in the south, east, and north of the site. Operations at the garden centre and new car park will continue throughout. Great work from all our contractors - Newspan Building Solutions Ltd and R&R Electrical & Mechanical Services It's exciting to see the project take shape! 😀 #localproject #gardencentre #grovewellgardencentres #kent #constructionconsultants #projectmanagement#architecture #structuralengineering #civilengineering

Meet Kyla Beard, another of our T-Level students, here Kyla she shares insights into her course, experience with INVVU, career goals, and interests outside of work. I am Kyla Beard, a T-Level student in Design, Surveying, and Planning at EKC Canterbury College, where I attend classes three days a week. The other two days, I gain hands-on experience through my work placement at INVVU Construction Consultants. I'm particularly interested in the design aspect of my course, especially working with AutoCAD. I'm considering a future in architecture or a design-related profession. During my placement at INVVU, I’ve enjoyed being involved in real-life projects, gaining valuable insights into how they are executed and the detailed steps required to bring them together. Seeing the hard work involved in construction has motivated me for future projects. I’ve also learned many new skills and gained a deeper understanding of the industry, particularly how different roles depend on and support each other to complete tasks as a team. After college, I plan to continue studying in the construction industry, with a focus on design, while also developing skills in various roles. I aim to work as an apprentice, gaining practical experience and knowledge that will benefit me throughout my career. I believe that the hands-on experience gained through an apprenticeship will be invaluable for my chosen career path. In five years, I see myself progressing in my education and working towards my career goals. I hope to have accumulated a broad range of experience and developed a clear plan for achieving my ambitions. Alongside my career aspirations, I have a passion for travel. I dream of exploring different countries, experiencing new cultures, and visiting surreal sites around the world. Having already started traveling this year, I’m even more determined to work hard, earn a stable income, and continue checking off my bucket list. #placement #industry #students #education #design #architecture #autocad #construction #careers #talent

  • ✅Southampton Stairs ✅South Western Railway INVVU were instructed by South Western Railway to carry out the initial survey and undertake the architectural feasibility option design for a new staircase, to replace the existing one on an embankment at Southampton Central Station. The feasibility design has been completed with a structural design report covering the GRIP 4 stage design of the proposed staircase option. INVVU proposed the most suitable option based on the client's requirements while minimising the design process time. Although the project is relatively small in scale, the proposed design includes an in-situ reinforced concrete (RC) retaining wall and foundation base, a prefabricated steel staircase, and mini pile/screw pile foundations. This approach ensures the most economical solution, considering the full life cycle of the design. #architecture #structuralengineering #designlifecycle #staircase #rail #station
