IWiM proudly participated in the 2024 OECD - OCDE Conference of Mining Regions and Cities in Greater Sudbury, Canada. Our Global Head of Strategy and Alliance, Rosebella Osei, contributed to Panel discussions focused on "Strengthening education for local skills of the future and addressing misconceptions about mining." The panel highlighted the need to tackle skills shortages and misconceptions about the mining industry, especially as it plays a pivotal role in the green energy transition. Rosebella shared insights on the importance of targeted education strategies that empower local communities, particularly women, to gain relevant skills and access sustainable opportunities in mining regions. We are honoured to be part of this vital conversation, promoting inclusivity and addressing the gender gap in the natural resources sector. Today, IWiM is excited to be attending the 2024 International Women in Resources Mentoring Programme (IWRMP) #IWRMP2024, hosted by our Ally Corporate Partner and Platinum IWRMP Programme Sponsor Rio Tinto. This event marks the successful wrap-up of this year's programme, and we couldn’t be more proud of all the incredible mentees and mentors who took part. It’s been an inspiring journey of growth, connection, and empowerment, and we’re thrilled to come together and celebrate the achievements of everyone involved. Now in its 7th year, IWRMP has been instrumental in furthering women's careers, overcoming professional challenges and building confidence for industry leadership throughout the entire mining value chain.
