It was a nice to welcome the Technical Teams from the different Greencore sites along with Poppy from Coop to Jepco Glebe so they could hold their KPI meeting. The visit included a tour of the Hydroponics unit to see the growing and packing operation in action before they got down to business. Hopefully a very productive visit for the members of Greencore and Coop, as it was a pleasure to be able to host them. #ukgrowers #hydroponics #lettuce #ukproduce

Despite the rain trying to do its best to stop us, Lettuce planting for the 2024 Summer season continues to go well. As we the spring equinox passes and hopefully, we will see more sunlight and increasing temperatures, the plants will establish well under the fleece, which is helping to keep temperatures up, aiding the initial growth. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for further updates. #ukproduce #farming #ukfarming #agriculture #crops

This weekend, The first of our Salad Onions have been drilled straight into the JEPCO fields, with fleeces installed to keep them warm and aid growth. The crop will be ready by early July, with more Onions drilled every week. #lincolnshiregrowers #farmers #lincsfarming #agriculture

The start of season is fast approaching and as we begin planting our lettuces and spring onions, JEPCO is pleased to welcome its planting team. After spending time either working in warmer climates for winter, or enjoying some well-earned time at home, we’re joined by a team from countries throughout Europe who will be helping us plant iceberg and apollo lettuce, spring onions and radicchio throughout the spring and summer. Welcome to the team! 🥬 #ukproduce #farming #ukfarming #agriculture #crops

It’s officially the first day of the 2024 season, as we start planting over 1.5 million lettuce plants per week in these first few weeks. They have initially been growing in greenhouses over winter. As we enjoy longer days, more sunlight and increasing temperatures, the plants are strong enough to cope with the outdoor elements but we do cover them with fleece to keep temperatures up, aiding initial growth. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for further updates. #ukproduce #farming #ukfarming #agriculture #crops

Another week, another European trip for the JEPCO team! Richard Pett and Mantas Rudokas have been visiting Nunhems’ showcase in Murcia, Spain, to see the winter leaf trials. Similar to our summer lettuce trials but run in the warmer Spanish winters, the visit is an opportunity to earmark new varieties and to share knowledge. It’s been great to spend time with Derek Hallendorff, the UK hydroponic specialist for Rijk Zwaan, and Josephine Dunbar, who has recently joined Rijk Zwaan as the UK development specialist. #trials #ukproduce #europeanfarming #farming
