How can we benefit from innovation borne from devolution?   We are pleased to have supported The Future Governance Forum (FGF)'s latest report which explores the challenges associated with a mixed employment support system, with provision on a state level coexisting with regional commissioned contracts. For the DWP to achieve the most success, the report recommends:   📈Facilitating the sharing of consistent data – data collection and sharing practices should be standardised across providers, whilst making better use of the existing DWP data hub   🔍 Monitoring performance at a national level – to ensure both state provision and commissioned contracts have the same level of scrutiny   🏆Evaluating successful programmes – to identify examples of best practice and incentivise innovation   For more, please read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/e2KmjDjz

How can we prevent a postcode lottery of services in a devolved employment support system?   🏛 Central Government must take a leading role in setting the framework for employment support to ensure consistent, high-quality support is available to individuals across all regions.   📑 DWP should develop commissioning guidelines in consultation with combined and local authorities, providers and other local stakeholders to develop a set of minimum standards.   🔄To maximise outcomes, these guidelines should allow greater flexibility within contracts to enable providers to remain agile to local requirements and individual needs, working closely with local labour market partnerships.   📄 Read The Future Governance Forum (FGF)'s report on making a devolved employment support system work: https://lnkd.in/e2KmjDjz

How can localised, holistic employment support be delivered successfully?   Localised delivery is essential in helping individuals back into work, particularly for those facing the most complex barriers. This must be a top priority for devolved and non-devolved commissioners and providers.     📈 A place-based approach to employment support commissioning has the potential to boost local economic growth and tackle the nuances of local labour markets across the country.   🤝 To achieve this, stronger relationships are essential between central Government and commissioning authorities with strategic guidance from new local labour market partnerships.   📄 Read The Future Governance Forum (FGF)'s full report on making a devolved employment support system work: https://lnkd.in/e2KmjDjz

🤝 Partnership Power: using local labour market partnerships to determine local needs and strategies 🤝   Successfully localising support requires collaboration at all levels to ensure that services are moulded around the needs of people, the local labour market, and local employers.    Local labour market partnerships will therefore be a key component of delivering successful employment support. Local labour market partnerships can help to:    📍 Ensure that organisations and people closest to those out of work are given power to design bespoke local solutions and improve outcomes.    🤝 Combine local expertise with guidance from central government to improve the integration of services and delivery of support.     💬 Enable strong communication between providers, local government and local organisations providers, helping to create effective, locally-driven employment support system.    Read the full The Future Governance Forum (FGF) report on making a devolved employment support system work here: https://lnkd.in/e2KmjDjz

How do we make devolution work for working people?  We know that devolved authorities understand local needs best and are well placed to adapt provisions to enable individuals and communities to thrive through better integration of services.  Through this integration, siloes are broken down and fewer people fall through cracks in the system between referrals. To make a success of a localised approach, Government should: 📝 Provide clear commissioning guidelines and multi-year long-term funding to support locally-led programmes. ⚖️ Ensure that funding for devolved initiatives is commensurate with what would be given to national level programmes, ensuring local teams have the resources to succeed. ⚡ Local authorities should have the power to design employment support services that meet their communities' needs.     📄 Read The Future Governance Forum (FGF)’s report, supported by AKG, on making a devolved employment support system work here: https://lnkd.in/e2KmjDjz
