Breaking New Ground: The First of Many Tower Block Demolitions! Abraham Point began a new era for John F Hunt - our first high-rise demolition project, paving the way for many more complex tower block deconstructions across the UK. Standing 23 storeys high, this London landmark was dismantled with complete scaffolding and sheeting to control dust and ensure safety. But this wasn't just about demolition; it was about engineering precision. The original panel system had to be carefully secured, strengthened, and dismantled to prevent collapse, one of the many challenges our expert team overcame. This project set the foundation for our specialist high-rise deconstruction expertise, leading to some of the industry's most technically advanced and environmentally responsible demolitions. The Q1 2025 Tender Price Inflation report by Gardiner & Theobald LLP highlights key challenges facing the industry. Uncertainty in the construction market is making developers think twice before committing to new projects. Planning delays, rising costs, uncertain political strategies, and regulatory pressures are creating nervousness, while the expectation of falling interest rates may offer only partial relief. Holding onto sites for macro conditions to improve may feel like the safest option right now, but waiting could introduce new risks - rising material and labour costs, and shifting market conditions could make delivery even harder in the medium term. So, is delaying really the right move?

But when the time came to say goodbye, John F Hunt took on the challenge of bringing it down, without causing chaos for the traders, commuters, and shoppers below! This wasn’t your average demolition. With floor-by-floor deconstruction, precision dismantling, and a whole lot of planning, we safely removed the high-rise structure while keeping life in Queens Market moving. And the best part? 🚧 One Exchange Square: Project Video Now Live! 🎥 We’re excited to unveil our latest video showcasing the incredible work at One Exchange Square! From enabling works to structural demolition and steel strengthening, this project was a testament to precision, efficiency, and sustainability.
