About us

For thirty years, we’ve made a difference by pioneering organic and vegetarian food and sustainable practices that connect with nature across our portfolio of purpose-driven brands. Committed to food for biodiversity, we are here to challenge the conventions and change the food industry from the inside. We are a B Corp Certified business and very proud of our four pioneering brands in the UK and their positions within expanding market segments: - The UK’s first Fairtrade tea company, Clipper Teas, which makes natural, fair and delicious hot beverages and created the world’s first fully biodegradable, non-GM and unbleached tea bag. - Whole Earth, the UK’s no.1 peanut butter brand and manufacturer of natural and organic spreads, cereals and drinks. - Kallø makes market-leading, organic rice, corn and veggie cakes, as well as the UK’s fastest-growing range of stocks and gravies. - Mrs Crimble’s, the gloriously gluten-free cake brand that makes delicious baked goods for all to enjoy.

Clipper’s been on the silver screen! 📺 Not only is our sustainable tea company celebrating its 40th birthday this year, it's also marking 30 years of fair trading, since being the UK’s first #Fairtrade tea company - and now the largest The Fairtrade Foundation tea brand. Along the way, Clipper has raised more than £6.8M for the Fairtrade Premium which goes towards supporting local communities in an array of projects from core infrastracture to education resources, better healthcare and climate change mitigation. For us, it’s all about offering consumers more from their cuppa, aka ‘GOOD’ tea - the Clipper way. Our ethical tea brand, Clipper Teas has been producing tea from the heart of Beaminster, Dorset, since 1984 - having started out from a humble kitchen table. ☕🌱 This year, we celebrate a staggering 40 years of trading! So it felt fitting that we threw a birthday bash. Across a full day of activities, our CEO Emma Vass and marketing leads Bryan Martins, Adele W. and Hayley Murgett led talks looking back on four decades at Clipper. The team also got to hear from Clipper’s longstanding tea partners, Lee Holdstock at the Soil Association and Anna Mann from The Fairtrade Foundation. Despite the rain, the team headed out to plant some tea bushes on the factory grounds. Who knows, we may even be growing our own tea soon! 🌿 The festivities were rounded off by dancing the night away at an 80’s themed birthday bash. 💃🏼 #ClipperTeas #Fairtrade #EthicalTea

As a planet, most of our diets are made up of just nine plant species. In fact, it's around 75%!🌾 Having more diversified ingredients on our plates is not just good for a more balanced diet, it also bolsters biodiversity, and ultimately supports a more sustainable food system. Kallo has a diverse range of products made with alternative plant ingredients, such as lentils and peas which form the growing Veggie Cakes portfolio, and chickpeas in Kallo Veggie Thins. Here’s why it matters: 🌾 A greater range of nutrients such as lentils and grains is a bonus for the body, with often higher levels of protein and amino acids 🌾 Relying on a monoculture of limited crops such as rice, wheat, and corn makes ecosystems more susceptible to disease. It also reduces biodiversity which is vital in protecting the planet from the effects of climate change 🌾 As climate change continues to affect our ecosystems, relying on a diverse range of crops can ensure our food system is more resilient #AlternativeIngredients #Kallo

Protecting biodiversity: recent warnings from United Nations biodiversity president, Susana Muhamad… 🌍 Our ecosystems are interconnected, and so are the solutions. Global coordination is essential. 🌍 Reducing carbon emissions is vital, but it's not enough. Preserving biodiversity is equally important in combating climate breakdown. 🌍 To truly protect nature, we need to rethink our economic systems. Sustainable practices must replace those that harm our environment. 🌍Time is running out. Immediate, bold actions are needed to prevent irreversible damage to our ecosystems and the species that depend on them. 🌍Indigenous knowledge and practices are invaluable in conserving biodiversity. Supporting these communities is crucial for global environmental health. Read the full article via The Guardian here: https://buff.ly/3MhhBRy Let's unite for a future where nature thrives. At Ecotone, wellbeing is high up on the priority list - and not just the health of our planet, but of our wonderful team! This is why we built a training scheme for our staff to become dedicated Health Champions, regulated by the Royal Society of Public Health. This team of dedicated wellbeing experts recently got together to continue developing their strategy - and evaluated how far they’ve come already. 👏🏽 These employees check in on the wider team and serve as a key contact for anyone who may be struggling. The result? New systems that aim to boost morale and more opportunities for social connections have been put in place. With a doors always open policy, we’re fostering an inclusive and supportive workspace - which is as it should be for all businesses. #EmployeeWellbeing #Health

We love supporting hedgerow projects! This month the Clipper factory team in Dorset spent a day surveying hedgerows, which serve as a vital habitat for an abundance of British wildlife. It’s a role which is now more important than ever, as both hedgerows and biodiversity are in decline🌿 Well done to Shaun, Aida, and Chris, who braved some tumultuous weather conditions all in the name of the environment. Our team worked directly with John Calder, leader of Dorset CAN, who works directly with farmers across the region to assess their hedgerows, with a view to helping them secure grants to bolster biodiversity across their land. Nature is at the heart of what we do at Ecotone which is a core reason behind why we continue to support local biodiversity initiatives such as these. 🐝 #Volunteering #EmployeeSatisfaction #Hedgerows
