Keltbray is dedicated to embracing Circular Economy best practices. ♻️ We're proud to have been an early participant in the City of London Corporation's ROMULUS reuse initiative on behalf of Landsec at our 55 Old Broad Street site. In this project, Keltbray has teamed up with Maconda's city-wide reuse programme, using a digital platform to find new homes for products that would otherwise be sent for recycling or energy recovery. 👇 Check out some photos from our site showcasing the kitchenettes and sanitary units that have been collected for reuse in local schools through the charity Business2Schools. A huge thank you to our site team for their incredible efforts. 🙌 #CircularEconomy #Reuse #CityOfLondon #Sustainability

Keltbray recently had the pleasure of sponsoring the UK Office Series: Adapting to a New Era of Workspaces Conference, hosted by Lendlease at the Turing Building at Stratford Cross. Our Sustainability Director, Holly Price, moderated an insightful discussion focusing on the theme of: "The Retrofit Revolution: Repurposing Spaces for Sustainability and Relevance," joined by Laura Collins, Kate Green, Mark Swetman, and Jon Eaglesham. 💡 Key insights from the session included: ✅ The construction and fit-out industry is undergoing a transformative shift towards retrofitting and remodelling as sustainable alternatives to demolition. ✅ The Crown Estate’s focus on retrofit projects underscores its potential as a strategic investment. ✅ Retrofitting presents complex challenges such as unforeseen structural and compliance issues, and meeting tenants' expectations – all of which can be navigated with innovative thinking, industry collaboration, and the right strategies. ✅ Achieving success in retrofitting demands a dedicated team equipped with the necessary expertise. Retrofit and remodelling are clearly shaping the future of the built environment. Through the right approach and collaborative efforts within the industry, the sector is well-positioned to address the rising demand for efficient, sustainable, and future-ready buildings. Last week, Keltbray participated in the nationwide Open Doors week. We held a two-day event at our 50 Fenchurch Street project, where we welcomed 20 students and local residents. Before visiting the site, Kevin K Ramsey, our Assistant Project Manager at 50 Fenchurch Street, presented the project details and shared his career journey. Students had the chance to interact with industry professionals, gaining practical insights that aligned with their studies. What were the key highlights of Open Doors 2025? 🚧 Providing Real-World Experience: students understood the scheme through a presentation, followed by a site walk where they could see the visuals in reality. 💡 Presenting Career Pathways: our team presented multiple roles and career paths within the construction industry. 🏗️ Understanding Project Challenges: demonstrating the challenges of the project, and how our integrated Built Environment approach is helping to achieve the final scheme, where heritage meets modernity. Kevin said, "Open Doors is a great opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals who are starting their careers. We showcased Keltbray's ongoing works at 50 Fenchurch and provided the students with practical insights." Interested in joining Keltbray? It's been a pleasure to partner with YardNine on so many projects. With excavation set to begin next month on 50 Fenchurch Street, we’re looking forward to seeing the project take shape. 🙌 #HeritagePreservation #Partnership #CivilEngineering
Contractor Spotlight: Keltbray We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with engineering and construction specialists Keltbray across multiple projects over the years. Currently, we’re working together on 50 Fenchurch Street, a complex development that involves preserving the historic All Hallows Staining Tower, the last remaining part of a Grade I-listed church that collapsed in the 1600s. The challenge? Excavating four storeys below ground while ensuring the tower remains intact. We spoke with Harvey White, Project Manager at Keltbray, about how they’re tackling this unique engineering challenge. How does the All Hallows Staining Tower impact the project? "Keltbray has been tasked with retaining the tower in its original position while constructing a new foundation beneath it. This will enable the creation of a four-storey basement directly underneath." How is Keltbray preserving the historic structure during construction? "The new foundation system consists of a raft slab beneath the tower, supported by four plunge column piles. This allows us to excavate to the formation level while maintaining structural integrity. Once complete, the temporary system will be removed as the permanent structure is built." With excavation set to begin next month, we look forward to seeing 50 Fenchurch Street take shape. Have a project with complex building challenges? Our team has the expertise to deliver. Get in touch today: https://lnkd.in/ehhvGQZE Photo credit: Rob Parrish

The 76-78 Upper Ground project involved transforming a Grade II listed structure adjacent to the National Theatre on London's Southbank into a modern workspace. Eighty percent of the existing structure was retained. The building was sensitively refurbished and extended to deliver an additional 11,000m² of floor space. Our team provided multidisciplinary services to enable this award-winning remodelling project: soft strip, partial demolition, design and installation of temporary works, dismantling of the existing façade, structural strengthening of the retained structure, piling, substructure, and superstructure works. The project had a strong focus on sustainability from the beginning. Among the Circular Economy achievements are: 🏢 Retaining 62 listed façade panels and 20 listed core façade panels. ⚒️ Salvaging an 27,360 floor tiles, 95 tonnes of paving blocks, and 71 tonnes of bricks for reuse. ♻️ Recycling 20 tonnes of glazing and reusing significant amounts of timber on-site. We also managed to handle logistical challenges, minimising disruption to theatre performances and maintaining positive relationships with neighbours. We are proud to have contributed to the revitalisation of this iconic building! Read the full story here: https://loom.ly/mvzM3Mw #UpperGround #Remodelling #CircularEconomy

Keltbray has recently supported the Queen’s Regimental Riders Association and Horticultural Rehabilitation Centre in Faversham. 🤩 The centre’s Veteran Rehabilitation Project does a great job, using gardening 🌱 to enhance veterans' mental wellbeing, while also providing support for homeless veterans. We repaired and improved the existing track and constructed a road around the Rehabilitation Centre, donating all necessary materials and leveraging the team from our nearby Richborough Power Station project to complete the job. Howard Copsey, President of QRRA, expressed his gratitude: "We are immensely grateful to Keltbray for their support from the outset of this project, ensuring a professional-looking entrance to the Centre and improving the safety of our veterans." A special thanks to L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage Plant Hire for providing the roller. It was a genuine pleasure to support QRRA and meet the brilliant individuals behind it. 🙌 #SocialValue #Volunteering #RichboroughPowerStation #CommunitySupport
