It has been a great day for all VINCI Energies UK & RoI family and especially us signing the Armed Forces Covenant! Looking forward to a new chapter in our growth and us supporting the transition to net-zero!
What a day to remember! Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of hosting our 2024 Meetup at the iconic Millennium Point Birmingham. ❄️ Despite the snowy weather, 150 new team members who joined us this year across Actemium UK, Axians UK and Omexom UK came together to celebrate and connect. Hosted by our CEO Scott Van Der Vord and facilitated by our amazing duo Jasmin Moroney & Sophie Thornton, the day was filled with: ✅ A look at our VINCI Energies UK & RoI Way of Life, reinforcing our shared values and vision. ✅ A business update, focusing on what lies ahead for our operations across the UK & RoI. ✅ Heartfelt moments celebrating the incredible impact of our #VINCIUKFoundation, supporting charities in their fight against social exclusion across the UK and Ireland. ✅ A moment of pride as we signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our commitment to supporting those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. We were honoured to have Lt Col Duncan Southall PARA VR with us for this significant occasion. The afternoon brought even more inspiration, thanks to the amazing o3e team, who led us through a meaningful activity: building bikes in teams for children fighting cancer, just in time for Christmas 🚴♀️💝 These bikes will be delivered through the wonderful charity Cyclists Fighting Cancer Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and made this event such a success. We've been keeping up with the team on site since civil works began, right up to the recent delivery of two new 400kV SGTs. Office life before the invention of AutoCAD and other drafting software. Before the release of AutoCAD in 1982, engineering drawings were all done by hand using different-grade pencils, erasers, T-squares, and set squares. Even after all the manual labor, if a change was required, the engineers and toolmakers had to start from scratch and make the sketches all over again. Nowadays, architecture designers and other drafters are mainly just clicking their mouse and keyboard and not hunched over on a giant desk wondering if any changes will be made to their final drafts.
