Today, we celebrate an extraordinary milestone for Susan Carr, Clinical Procurement Specialist at KFM, who has achieved an incredible 50 years in nursing. Throughout her remarkable career, Sue has made notable contributions through her dedication and leadership. Sue began her nursing career on August 14, 1974, as a student nurse in Glasgow, at the Greater Glasgow Health Board's Western District College of Nursing and Midwifery. Her professional path has since taken her through London, Croydon, Surrey, and the Midlands. Throughout her career, Sue has made significant contributions, including establishing a day surgery unit, developing an emergency care pathway, and receiving the Chairman's Award in 2009. Her commitment to nursing excellence was further recognised when she was elected Staff Governor for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in 2015. Since joining KFM in 2020, Sue has seamlessly transitioned her nursing expertise into the world of procurement. Additionally, she holds roles as a Sustainability Lead, Co-chair of the Staff Forum, Mental Health First Aider, and Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, advocating for excellence in healthcare standards. The Great Hospital Hike is just around the corner, where our incredible KFM Proclaimers will embark on an 18-mile hike to support King's College Hospital Charity. This annual event is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a great charity and bring colleagues together, all while making a significant impact on patient care. King's College Hospital Charity is committed to supporting patient care by funding cutting-edge equipment and innovative research, to help thousands of people every year. Tonight is the Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2024! We’re proud to be finalists in two categories: Advocate of the Year and Employer of the Year. The ceremony is happening tonight in London's Mayfair, and both serving and veteran guests will be proudly wearing their medals. Yesterday, in honour of #ArmedForcesWeek, we had a special moment with one of our colleagues, Andrew Kennedy, Pharmacy Omnicell Support at KFM and veteran Gunner of the Royal Artillery. Andy served in Northern Ireland over 40 years ago where he was awarded the General Service Medal, but never received the miniature version. Thanks to our incredible KFM Armed Forces Network, they quickly solved this problem by commissioning a medal! We were thrilled to be able to present this medal to Andy in time for the awards tonight. We want to wish all finalists good luck for tonight's awards. The work we all do to support the armed forces community is fantastic and truly makes a significant difference.
