Chelsea welcomed its newest piece of public art yesterday commemorating Oscar Wilde on his 170th birthday on a gloriously sunny afternoon. The thought provoking and moving piece on Dovehouse Green was designed by the late Sir Eduardo Paolozzi CBE, a local artist and like Wilde himself, a well known resident of Chelsea. This project has taken years to accomplish thanks to the tireless efforts of Victoria Jacobsen, Secretary to Paolozzi, the Paolozzi Foundation, the world class foundry, Pangolin Editions, Verena Cornwall MBE, Head of Culture and Place, Cllr Emma Will, Lead Member for Property, Parks and Leisure, and Cllr Kim Taylor-Smith, Deputy Leader of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. If you needed a reason to stroll down the King's Road today, this is your sign! #kingsroad #oscarwilde #wilde #chelsea #literature #kensingtonandchelsea
