We are proud to once again partner with Marble Arch London BID to bring the Ramadan lights back to Edgware Road. This initiative celebrates the significance of Ramadan for the local community, as thousands gather along Edgware Road each evening to break their fast or come together for Eid al-Fitr. The stunning display not only enhances the vibrant atmosphere of the area but also celebrates the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. Marble Arch BID, in partnership with The Portman Estate, has brought back its illuminated Ramadan display to Nutford Place, as thousands gather along Edgware Road each evening to break their fast or come together for Eid al-Fitr. The stunning crescent moon is illuminated daily from 6am to 11pm for the duration of Ramadan, which will conclude on 30 March 2025. To celebrate the return of the Ramadan lights installation, Marble Arch London BID hosted a photocall on 28 February 2025 with Councillor Aicha Less, Deputy Leader of the Council and Councillor Md Shamsed Chowdhury, lead member for Edgware Road, alongside members of the local community. On Friday 29 November, to mark National Tree Week, a group from The Portman Estate travelled to the Portman Burtley Estate in Buckinghamshire to participate in a tree planting session – replanting a section of the ancient woodland with native trees to support biodiversity and maintain the woodland for generations to come. Despite battling with mud, cold and uncooperative soil, 284 trees were planted including two different oak species, lime and field maple. Thank you to the team from Savills for assistance in setting up the day and educating us on the importance of maintaining this critical natural habitat. #NationalTreeWeek #Sustainability #BCorp Katie Balderson Henrietta Cohen

We've welcomed three fantastic new operators to Seymour Place in #PortmanMarylebone this winter. In November, highly anticipated Thai-British restaurant AngloThai opened its doors at 22-24 Seymour Place. Following a series of successful pop-ups, the 50-cover space is the first permanent launch from husband-and-wife duo John and Desiree Chantarasak. AngoThai is in partnership with restaurant group MJMK, who also introduced restaurant KOL to the Estate at 9 Seymour Street. Independent bookshop Veranda Books also opened in November at 7 Seymour Place, specialising in international literature and global perspectives. And newly opened this month, contemporary nail bar Show Me Your Nails is now at 20 Seymour Place providing premium nail, hand and foot beauty. The double fronted Seymour Place location is the brand’s new flagship West End salon, supporting Marylebone’s independent leisure offering. These brands join the vibrant and diverse selection of independent retail and hospitality brands on Seymour Place, including The Italian Greyhound, Lurra, Mandy Zhang Art and ULI. The street’s newest café, WatchHouse Coffee, was recently named Europe’s Best Coffee Shop Chain at the 2024 European Coffee & Hospitality Awards. https://lnkd.in/eKq5MeYc #ThePortmanEstate #Marylebone #PortmanMarylebone #NewOpenings #IndependentRetail #London #AngloThai #VerandaBooks #ShowMeYourNails Puja Dowlani Tom Knight

To mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are delighted to share our new AccessAble accessibility guides for 17 cafés, restaurants, galleries and hotels across our Marylebone neighbourhood, including Moco Museum, Jikoni and the Zetter Marylebone. Each person’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important, and is why all of the details you’ll find in the guides below have been checked in person, by trained surveyors. We are committed to bringing detailed, factual guides from more of our businesses in the future and hope to build upon the good start made in the area. We’ve also been working in partnership with AccessAble and Baker Street Quarter Partnership on some wider Marylebone access area routes, such as Baker Street Station to Portman Square and Oxford Street to George Street. We've partnered Marble Arch London BID and The Church Commissioners for England – Real Estate to set out priorities for public realm improvements along Edgware Road. The Edgware Road placemaking strategy has been produced by DSDHA after the architects and urban designers carried out an extensive review with local residents, businesses, councillors, community partners, schools and faith groups, to find out what they would like their high street to look like. Our Strategic Projects Director Simon Loomes commented: “These plans, which help guide the Edgware Road’s future, are a testament to the power of collaboration and strategic partnerships, which have been pivotal in shaping this shared vision. The Portman Estate, as a key landowner on the east side of Edgware Road, is deeply committed to this initiative. We are dedicated to enhancing the public realm, improving facades, shop fronts, and forecourts, and ensuring that the Edgware Road remains a vibrant, inclusive and dynamic community. This strategy is a significant step towards a shared strategy for a sustainable and welcoming environment in one of London’s much loved cultural centres.” Rosa Han #EdgwareRoad #Placemaking #MarbleArch #Marylebone #ThePortmanEstate
Marble Arch London BID has partnered with The Portman Estate and The Church Commissioners for England – Real Estate to set out priorities for public realm improvements along Edgware Road in the West End. The Edgware Road placemaking strategy has been produced by DSDHA after the architects and urban designers carried out an extensive review with local residents, businesses, councillors, community partners, schools and faith groups, to find out what they would like their high street to look like. Edgware Road forms the central spine that runs the length of the Marble Arch BID area and is bounded by The Portman Estate to the east and The Church Commissioners’ Hyde Park Estate to the west. This new placemaking strategy will help guide future investment towards the long-term protection and enhancement of one of London’s most vibrant and iconic neighbourhoods.
