Right Works is how we approach continuous improvement. It comprises a code of practice, competition between divisions and sites, an annual forum, and individual and team awards. What has become known as Right Works Day, took place last week. Highlight of the forum was Jason Anker MBE presenting on the journey he has been on since a workplace accident left him in a wheelchair at just 24. A wholly compelling account that laid bare the consequences of our actions. We also looked at why we put ourselves at risk guided by Tim Marsh. Lots of food for thought and much to work with in pursuit of safer and healthier workplaces. That evening we celebrated some amazing teams and individuals at our Right Works Awards. Our Wales & Energy Division’s Necton team was crowned Right Works Champion. 🏆 The project in Norfolk, is to upgrade a 400kV substation to enable three offshore wind farms to be connected to the distribution network. The site team has created a truly positive culture, reflected in their passion and evidenced by the continual pushing of best practice and the delivery of exceptional quality work. Our Outstanding Contribution Award winners have equally created positive work environments, overcome challenges, showed great leadership, and influenced improved outcomes. 👏 A highlight in Knights Brown’s calendar, this day has another important role in bringing people from across our business together, helping build a stronger team spirit and all-important sense of belonging. Here's looking forward to the next. 😎

🤝 It’s always nice to receive positive feedback. 🌊 The Typhoon 3000 Open Day showcased one of the most innovative jack-up barges in the industry. Even though it’s slightly too big for the Poole Bridge to Hunger Hill flood defence project, it has potential for future marine projects. 🙏 Thank you to Red7Marine #JackUpBarge #MarineEngineering
Big thanks to Catherine Bennett Knights Brown for organising a field trip to see the Tyhoon 3000 at HM Naval Base, Portsmouth for the Poole Bridge to Hunger Hill flood defence project team. The jack-up barge was mighty impressive as explained by SMS Marine and Red 7 Marine. Fave facts were its semi-submersible deck and 3000 tonnes load capacity capable of carrying Hunter Class war vessels. All agreed a fraction too big for Backwater Channel!

On Friday night, we had the pleasure of attending the ICE Cymru Wales Awards 2024, where we were proud to come away with not just one, but two prestigious awards. 🎉 • The Bill Ward Sustainability Award, presented to the Cardiff City Centre East and Churchill Way Canal scheme, recognised for demonstrating the principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. • The Roy Edwards Award, presented to the Castle Inn Bridge Demolition and Reconstruction project, acknowledged for its outstanding design and construction in a project costing under £5 million. These achievements reflect the hard work, innovation, and dedication of the teams involved in these projects, and it’s fantastic to see their efforts recognised on such a prominent platform. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making these successes possible! 👏 #ICECymru #Awards #Sustainability #EngineeringExcellence #CastleInnBridge #CardiffCanal
