  • As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 on Saturday 8 March, we are excited to embrace this year’s theme: Accelerate Action. This theme emphasises the urgency of implementing meaningful changes and taking concrete steps towards gender equality, moving from awareness to action and focusing on measurable outcomes and long-term solutions. This week, we have taken significant steps towards this goal through our second Strive to Thrive conference and the launch of our Women’s Network Strategy. Throughout the week, we have hosted a series of events and workshops as part of the Strive to Thrive conference: ▪️ Colleagues from our Spectrum Network, Aspire Social Mobility Network, Women’s Network, Organisation and Employee Development (OED) and our Senior Executive Team (SET) have come together to provide valuable insights and resources to empower our colleagues and promote gender equality. ▪️ We have heard inspiring stories, engaged in meaningful discussions, and shared best practices to support each other’s growth and development. Feedback from attendees: ▪️ “Encouraging and pleased to see so many men attend and participate, particularly in the session on banter and sexual harassment” ▪️ “The listening group on part-time working was great to be a part of – I think it’s really important that we keep talking about these topics and seeing what we can do differently so everyone feels supported” The Women's Network is an inclusive space where people from all walks of life can come together with a focus on women's health and wellbeing, supporting everyone to thrive and reach their full potential. Our Women’s Network Strategy is a comprehensive plan designed to accelerate action towards gender equality and aligns with our diversity and inclusion principles. This strategy is built on four key pillars, each addressing critical areas for improvement and growth: ▪️ Raising awareness and breaking taboos around women’s health and wellbeing, ▪️ Nurturing our network’s diverse communities, ▪️ Advocating for an organisational culture where we can all thrive, and; ▪️ Empowering women to reach their full potential. Thank you to all the members of our Women's Network for their efforts not only in organising these events, but supporting their colleagues all year round. #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #InternationalWomensDay #WeAreHMLR

  • How do caseworkers investigate easements? What commonly used wording can lead to a requisition or note? How do restrictions affect easements? What happens when a chargee exercises their power of sale? And what about leases? In part 2 of his blog looking at common problems we encounter when registering easements, senior caseworker Andrew Smedley addresses these questions and more. He talks about the importance of definitions, the possible effects of restrictions, charges and leases - and why clear full-colour plans are essential to avoid a requisition.
