Avelo opens Connecticut base of operations US ultra-low carrier, Avelo Airlines, has opened a new base of operations at Bradley International Airport (BDL), Connecticut. The airline will initially operate two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft from the airport, with plans to expand services in the future. Satair an Airbus Services company, and Eastern Airlines Technic, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines Global (CES), have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to explore a potential collaboration focused on optimising material management for CES’s Airbus fleet. The potential partnership aims to leverage Satair’s expertise in integrated material management services (IMS) to streamline the supply chain and ensure the flow of expendable parts for CES’s fleet of over 450 Airbus aircraft. New UK task force will tackle barriers for disabled air passengers The UK government will launch a new taskforce today (7 November) with a remit to address the challenges faced by disabled air passengers. The Aviation Accessibility Task and Finish Group, chaired by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, the former Paralympian, will focus on improving the flying experience for disabled passengers. Rise Air orders Canada’s first ATR 72-600s Rise Air, a 100% Indigenous-owned regional airline serving remote communities in Saskatchewan, Canada, has ordered three new ATR 72-600 turboprops. Threat to 180 jobs as in-flight entertainment start-up folds. In-flight entertainment (IFE) start-up AERQ is to cease trading after five years of development. Despite successfully launching AERENA for an operational demonstration on a Discover Airlines Airbus A320 and receiving positive feedback on its features and quality, AERQ said it faced “significant challenges in penetrating the competitive IFE market”. Deutsche Aircraft D328eco moves closer to 100% PtL SAF operation. Deutsche Aircraft and Pratt & Whitney Canada have successfully completed a series of test flights using fully synthetic Fischer-Tropsch fuel in a D328® UpLift research aircraft. This achievement marks a step towards the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) produced with Power-to-Liquid (PtL) technology in the future. UK air passenger duty hike is “misguided” Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of the international aviation services company Avia Solutions Group, has issued a stark warning against the proposed increase in UK Air Passenger Duty (APD) outlined in the 2024 Budget.
