In 2024, 13% of outgoing CFOs in the FTSE 100 stepped into CEO roles, showing that the CFO-to-CEO pathway continues to be a key leadership route. It’s also encouraging to see that female FTSE 100 CFO appointments have risen to 36%, marking real progress towards more balanced leadership at the top. Internal promotions are also on the rise, a positive indicator that companies are investing in succession planning and actively building more diverse leadership pipelines.
