We knew we were doing something right when we launched our Bacillus-based inoculant, ROOTFiX, after years of our own research and collaboration with our academic and institutional partners. But there’s nothing like seeing others find the same results! Delighted to see this paper from a team comprising researchers from UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Morocco, and University of Guelph – one of our partners. Their study tested the effect of phosphorus-solubilising microorganisms (PSM) such as Bacillus. The P status of legumes, particularly nodules, as well as P availability in the rhizosphere – the soil immediate surrounding the plant’s roots – play a vital role in regulating biological nitrogen fixation. They found PSM increase plant-available P by modifying soil processes and by promoting plant traits – effects consistent with our own research. https://lnkd.in/e5DQi7_T #biologicalnitrogenfixation #legumes #bacillus #phosphorus #rhizosphere

Maximum Yield. Naturally. Offering a wide range of nitrogen fixing inoculant products. Organically certified.
About us
Legume Technology was established in 2000 and has steadily grown by customer referrals and by providing consistently high quality products. Our aim is that our products enhance seedling health and early establishment leading to higher yield, in a natural way. Competing against inoculant products from several global companies, we are proud to offer a better customer experience – being able to offer flexibility that is impossible for larger companies (see our case studies on the Distributor page). Our company began in 2000, producing around 1000 packs of inoculant in the first year. With an increasing demand for a high quality product and our increased production capacity, we are very keen to find distributors who want to introduce high quality inoculant products with world wide field trial confirmed success rate. Over 95% of our products are exported outside the UK and we successfully supply into more than 20 countries. We are developing a new range of products that incorporate ‘added benefits’. We have research and development projects with industrial partners, research institutes and universities that are at the fore-front of science techniques and understanding to ensure our products are at the highest standards and providing maximum yield possible.

Bruce Knight, Legume Technology co-founder and CEO, talking to Chemtai Kirui from Kenya’s KassMedia. A quick overview of how LEGUMEFiX, our rhizobium inoculant, improves soil fertility and increase crop yields for Africa’s smallholder farmers – based on in-country trials (this year taking place in Uganda and Tanzania) and experience in 14 African countries. Yield increases are at least 20% and sometimes up to 80%. https://lnkd.in/eFH-4zG7 #legumeinoculants #rhizobium #africa #smallholderagriculture #groundnuts #phaseolus #soybeans

Legume Technology reposted this
African soils are deteriorating rapidly in part due to over-fertilization, but Legume Technology thinks they have the solution. They are developing an interesting new product that restores soils by applying nitrogen-fixing bacteria and fungi to plants. It won the company a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant to support further development. The funds will go towards revising packaging to meet small farms' needs and develop products that can go on non-leguminous crops. Bacillus was 'astonishing' in trials as a biological seed treatment in winter cereals, says Dr Bruce Knight, in this recent piece in Crop Production Magazine. Bacillus-treated plants outperformed those treated with conventional, mainstay seed treatments, taking two days less to reach maximum germination. And in field-scale trials, winter wheat treated with our Bacillus product - ROOTFiX - showed a 0.6t/ha increase over the conventional seed treatment. #biologicals #biofertiliser #sustainableagriculture #bacillus #seedtreatment

Regulations and legislation doesn't always make the most interesting topic! But as pioneers of root inoculants, biological plant nutrition and biostimulants - we've been at it for over three decades - we've long been committed to lifting standards across the sector. We think it's essential that the products that make it to market are of high quality, carry accurate descriptions, and are supported by robust technical advice. So we're very pleased to announce the latest approvals for our products under the EU's Fertilising Products Directive 2019/1009. 👉 LIQUIFiX and LIQUIFiX 120 Pea are now FPR certified 👍 💪 They join our LIQUIFiX Soybean products, as well as MOLYFiX and LEGUMEFiX, in complying with EU safety, health and environmental requirements, and stand as a recognition of thorough testing and assessment. Within the EU, the harmonised standard removes any need for additional national certifications. But it's not just for the EU. The CE mark that FPR certification allows our products to carry is widely recognised and accepted around the world. It's a symbol of product quality and compliance, wherever you are. Watch out for more of our products joining the 'CE Club'! #fertilisingproductsregulation #biostimulants #biologicals #eu #cemark #regulation #sustainableagriculture #nitrogen #fertiliser #legumes

Have you heard of tempeh? A traditional Indonesian food made from fermented soybeans, it’s a little like tofu but it uses the whole soybean. It’s gaining more traction as a meat alternative and now, Dutch companies Schouten - Specialist in Plant-Based Protein and AGRIFIRM INTERNATIONAL have announced a new collaboration to make tempeh from Dutch soybeans and fava beans. The new project is part of the ‘Bean Deal’, an initiative supported by the Netherlands National Protein Strategy and which aims to enhance the cultivation of protein-rich crops (for which read legumes!). Schouten hopes to introduce the home-grown tempeh through the Dutch hospitality and food service sector, potentially creating a new market for home-grown soya and fava beans from Dutch farmers. https://lnkd.in/e7mjuHPx #plantprotein #sustainableagriculture #soybeans #beandeal
