📣 Trainee solicitors: This is how you master a seat rotation transition 📣 (1) Get the intel 😎 Speak to the trainee leaving the seat and gather the deets. Check things like if there is anything they wish they knew when they joined the team, and whether they have any "how to" notes they could pass to you. (2) Introductions 🤝 Try to introduce yourself to the partners / supervisors in the team before you join - whether you just pop by or go for a coffee it can be a really helpful way of managing your worries about joining a new team. (3) Prep 🤓 Where you can have a look at the key principles of the law that relate to the practice area you are joining. You can also look on Practical Law at their toolkits for each practice area. You may want to read some of the articles or just save it to your favourites so you can refer back to it when you are in seat. (4) Acceptance 💛 Accept that joining a new team is hard - you will not know everything or anything but that is ok. There is no expectation on you to be great from the jump, and the sooner you relieve yourself of that pressure the better.
