Did you know that our services open their doors for neighbours to come and visit? And on Halloween at our #Dudley, North Tyneside supported living service, we dressed up in scary costumes and had a spooktacular party! We also gave out over 150 bags of sweets to neighbouring children who came along with their parents! In keeping with our Ghostbusters theme, Keven, who we support, proudly dressed as Slimer, and support team member Rebecca as the Marshmallow Man! #ProudToSupport #CommunityEngagement

What do ‘Very Good’ regulatory service ratings have in common? For Keith Anderson, Registered Manager of our Avon housing support service in #Glasgow, here are some steps: ❤️ “Start off with an experienced, motivated, and compassionate staff team. Add structure, guidance, coaching, and mentoring. 🤝 “Stir in some good oversight, governance, and quality assurance. Whisk in a new supportive management team. 😂 “Simmer then sprinkle with fun, joy, laughs, unicorn and penguin costumes, and a wicked sense of humour. The new rating of the service? A fresh new ‘Very Good’ (5 out of 6) with Scotland’s Care Inspectorate! Read more 👇 #ProudToSupport

Residential care homes aren’t always linked with independence - but independence means something unique to each person. For Blaise, who’s lived at our Kimbolton Avenue service for nearly 20 years, it’s about volunteering, reading, and enjoying life in #Bedford, all while benefiting from 24/7 support. Blaise has come a long way from the secure hospital where he once stayed, and now enjoys a full life with friends, work, and activities he loves. We're so proud to see Blaise thrive in a safe and supportive environment, surrounded by community. Well done, Blaise – we’re thrilled to support you! For Lifeways support worker Bernadette Ward, who’s 80, retirement can wait – she’s having too much fun supporting people with learning disabilities in #Kent! "I’ve loved every minute of it," says Bernadette. While she no longer works full-time, she’s found a rhythm that suits her perfectly. Andrea Kinkade, Chief Executive at Lifeways, said: “Support work can be challenging, but my goodness it is fulfilling and rewarding and we simply couldn’t provide the exceptional support we do without people like Bernadette.” Read more 👇 #ProudToSupport

Today is #WorldValuesDay – a perfect moment to reflect on the DNA that drives Lifeways and our people. We introduced our #CHOICE values earlier this year in collaboration with our team members. Our values are a true reflection of the behaviours and attitudes that underpin our objectives to become the provider and employer of choice in our sector. They also reflect our person-centred approach to support which is all about ensuring the people we support have choices. Our values are now embedded in everything from our appraisal process and recognition programmes to our recruitment and ways of working. Here’s what CHOICE means for us: C – Caring H – Honest O – OneTeam I – Innovative C – Courageous E - Equal These aren’t just empty platitudes, people - we measure the impact. Our latest pulse survey revealed that since we launched our new values, we've seen 10%+ boosts on a range of metrics including job satisfaction, recommend Lifeways to a friend, training and communication. So, if your values match ours, and you want to work in an organisation that truly makes you feel valued, supported and impactful, check out our latest vacancies: https://lnkd.in/eUjJxeUb

Quiz time: Is Sonya, who we support, in the pink jumper on the left in the photo: 🏡A) A resident 🔎B) A Quality Checker 🤝C) A founding member of the Lifeways Executive VIP Committee? The answer is C 🤝. Because it’s not enough to just INVOLVE the people we support. People we support, like Sonya, can LEAD, too. We came up with this new committee name after our recent Quality Checker committee meeting, made up of people we support. We agreed that we needed a much bigger and more important council or board, which required a new name. Watch this space to hear more from our new Lifeways Executive VIP Committee! #ProudToSupport #Empowerment
