LRWA, the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association consists of the leading manufacturers of liquid applied waterproofing, approved contractors and related materials suppliers. The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association represents the fastest growing sector of the construction industry. Suitable for new-build and refurbishment projects, liquid membranes have delivered proven performance in the UK since the 1970’s with literally millions of square metres laid. Our aim is to raise awareness of both the technical and financial benefits of specifying liquid applied waterproofing systems and provide independent advice for specifiers. All our manufacturer members have to meet stringent quality criteria before membership with the LRWA can be approved. This includes: Having their own quality systems that meet ISO 9001 standards. Providing trained technical staff to give support in the office and out on site. Achieving independent product accreditations such as BBA and ETA certificates. Developing their own approved contractor schemes and providing full training for these contractors. Supplying systems with a minimum 10 year guarantee. We provide technical guidance for specifiers through Guidance Notes and the LRWA Code of Practice, and our members work together to ensure liquids are represented within industry standards such as the BREEAM Green Guide to Specification. Through partnerships with other roofing trade associations, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and the Institute of Roofing, the LRWA is working hard to move the flat roofing industry forwards and ensure quality products with quality installations.

Budget Brings Hope For Refurbishment In Education: Billions has been promised to rebuild and maintain hundreds of UK schools in yesterday’s Budget announcement. The Labour Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, has pledged £1.4 billion to rebuild more than 500 schools, as well as £2.1 billion for school maintenance. This is a 19 per cent increase of spend in the Department for Education’s capital budget. “This much-needed investment is vital to help those schools impacted by Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC),” comments Sarah Spink MIoR, our CEO. Day 2 of RCMA's Fall Meeting is currently underway. RCMA President, Chris Huettig, introduced new RCMA members TIETEX , Henry, a Carlisle Company, Rugged Coatings, and Covia, while giving a summary of what's left to come during the Fall Meeting. Sarah Spink MIoR, CEO of LRWA, joined us all the way from the UK to give a presentation and field questions on key issues the UK construction industry are currently facing. Scott Van Remortel, Senior Product and Applications Technology Mgr. at Covia, shared Advanced Ultrawhite and Lower Density Functional Filler Solutions for More Sustainable Cool Roof Coating Applications. Matthew Dickinson, Director of Codes and Standards at SR Products, discussed Surface Roughness Testing of Low Sloped Roofing Membranes.
