The first Officers’ Seminar for our newly rebranded CB Tankers chemical tanker business, was hosted in Croatia by our CB Maritime crewing agency. It brought together our dedicated officers and shore staff for meaningful discussions on ship safety, seafarer education and crew wellbeing. We are proud to share that our Achim Boehme Scholarship beneficiary, Michael Pasion, has reached two major milestones! First up, Michael completed the Bremen Marathon with an impressive time of 3:39:27, surpassing his goal of finishing in under 4 hours. His dedication extended beyond the race, as he successfully raised over €1,000 for Deutsche Seemannsmission (German Seafarers' Mission), which provides support for the seafarers who undertake such challenging roles in seas and oceans around the world. In addition, we are happy to confirm that Michael has also received the prestigious annual #DAAD Award in Bremen, which honours international students in Germany for their outstanding academic performance and personal commitment. Michael’s achievements are a true reflection of his dedication, both academically and in service to the community. He is a very worthy recipient of grants from our scholarship programme, named after and as a lasting tribute to our late CEO. We congratulate Michael and the rest of our students on their remarkable achievements, and look forward to seeing them continue to inspire us all!

We are proud of the successful turnout at a matchmaking event for the shipping industry that was co-organised by our corporate venture lab lomarlabs and the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA)! It was a fantastic opportunity for Greek maritime procurers to connect with innovative EIC-backed start-ups like bound4blue, FibriTech, Ocean Visuals, COLD PAD, and CorPower Ocean. All are driving impactful solutions to support #maritime climate action. Our lomarlabs’ MD Stylianos Papageorgiou moderated an engaging panel discussion, where leading experts—Charis Plakantonaki (Star Bulk), Angelos Tyrogalas (Contships Management Inc), and Dimitris Koliaroudakis (TECHNAVA S.A.)—challenged startups with thought-provoking questions tailored to the #shipping industry’s unique needs. Featuring speakers including Greece Deputy Minister of Development Zoe Rapti, Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Stefanos Gkikas, Director of the #EISMEA Jean-David Malo, and Head of Shipping at the National Bank of Greece THEOFANIS MOUSTAKATOS, the event provided invaluable insights into future technologies for the maritime industry, fostering discussions on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration within the sector. Exciting developments from our lomarlabs portfolio startup, Bennu, which successfully tested its innovative #methane removal technology recently in Baltimore aboard our #Lomar bulker, SYROS TRADER. Methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gasses, is in fact 30 times as potent as carbon dioxide and plays a critical role in climate change, so innovations like these are crucial in the fight for a sustainable future. Bennu's technology uses UV light to permanently destroy methane molecules in the air, providing a powerful new tool in the global effort to combat climate change. Companies and governments can use Bennu technology to directly mitigate their own methane emissions or buy verified, permanent carbon credits to offset their global carbon emissions. World Maritime Day, organised by the International Maritime Organisation (@IMO) to recognise the vital work of the #maritime sector and its key workers, was celebrated yesterday. International #shipping transports more than 80% of global trade worldwide, and underpins supply chains, international trade and globalisation. #Seafarers are the foundation of our industry and this year’s theme is: ‘Navigating the Future: Safety First!’ We wholeheartedly support a safety-led culture in shipping and can’t thank our seafarers enough for their work on @Lomar vessels worldwide. In recognition of World Maritime Day, the IMO headquarters in London and the Seafarer's memorial are annually lit in sea-blue colours. This follows our acquisition of Carl Büttner Holding GmbH & Co. KG and its group of companies in 2022, bringing a rich 168-year maritime legacy into the Lomar family. #Lomar CEO Nicholas Georgiou notes: “The acquisition of Carl Büttner brought together companies with a shared ethos and family values, as highlighted by our joint commitment to the Achim Boehme Scholarship.
