Building a career requires more than just opportunity—it requires guidance, skill-building, and confidence. That’s why our #NextUs programme hosted a two-week Creative Marketing Bootcamp, by Find Your Feet, from 30th September to 11th October, aimed at equipping young people with practical skills for success in the creative marketing industry. Throughout the bootcamp, 17 participants engaged in hands-on workshops, developed personal brands, and created digital content, from video editing to graphic design. They formed teams, planned budgets, and pitched fully developed marketing campaigns to industry experts. What stood out most was their eagerness to engage in every activity and their ability to collaborate so effectively. For more info https://brnw.ch/21wOc49 #NextUsLambeth

Ahead of the #AutumnBudget on Wednesday, London Councils have announced shared priorities that government should focus on to stabilise London's local authorities, so we can support the government’s national missions and kickstart growth. Across London, councils face a £700million funding gap due to unprecedented demand for temporary accommodation, children's and adult's social care. In Lambeth alone, more than 4,6000 families are now living in temporary accommodation at a cost of over £90million a year, £28million more than forecast for this financial year. We're asking for a 7% uplift in our funding to help us respond, and welcome the government's plans to turbocharge the delivery of 1.5million homes across the country.

At Lambeth Council, we aim to create meaningful and quality-driven opportunities for young people to discover their creative potential. Through our Next Us programme, we partnered with Rambert to deliver a Creative Taster Day, an immersive experience where 13 passionate participants learned how to turn their favourite stories into shows. The smaller group size allowed for a more personalised approach, enabling each young person to connect directly with industry professionals and dive deeper into the creative process. They worked with Rambert dancers and seasoned creatives, gaining hands-on experience in storytelling, collaboration, and pitching ideas. Our commitment at Lambeth Council is to create quality-driven and supportive environments where every young person can thrive. Initiatives like these allow us to invest in our community’s future and provide pathways for growth. For more info https://lnkd.in/ebjFRgYm #NextUsLambeth

New blog: this week Deputy Leader Cllr Danny Adilypour wrote a piece for Inside Housing explaining the actions we’re asking government to take in the Autumn Statement, to help stabilise our finances, end homelessness and tackle the social housing crisis. This year alone, we will spend an additional £28million on temporary accommodation due to a massive increase in the number of families in need – we’re now supporting more than 4,600 households at a cost of £90million a year   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eM_jCKVK #affordablehousing #costofliving #newgovernment #homelessness #socialhousing

We have launched a new and exciting project in #Lambeth: The Barbershop Experience. It’s the brainchild of our Director of Education Abrilli Phillip. Temporary barber shops can be found in Lilian Bayliss and Trinity Academy, where students can get a dry cut and get a chance to speak to youth workers and barbers. The project is run by STEP NOW and hopes to combat serious youth violence in the borough by offering young people talking therapy. Learn more 👉 https://brnw.ch/21wNSNT
