Lambeth Climate Partnership News 📢 Our Big Shift team has been working with Peddle My Wheels/OurBike over the last couple of years to build Community Influencers. The award-winning programme has been a collaborative effort to improve cycling confidence and show how easily cycling can be incorporated into someone’s daily life to inspire others to give it a go. Community Influencer Claire used her bike to cycle to Balham for shopping: “It actually probably took the same amount of time that it would in the car, so we know that we can do that. I think that gave us both a bit more confidence.” Read the article linked in our comments to find out more about the project 🔗 Are you a Lambeth-based business or organisation? We’re pleased to see the Mayor of London announce a new #Nightlife #Taskforce to champion the capital’s night time economy. Lambeth plays a pivotal role in London’s nightlife, with: Over 1/3 of spend in the borough happening after 6 pm (above the London average of 25%) 3 of our town centres are in London’s top 20 busiest night time destinations Around 57,800 night workers power our vibrant economy Iconic venues like South Bank’s cultural institutions, Electric Brixton, and Kia Oval, plus vital spaces for diverse communities such as LGBTQ+ and Portuguese-speaking communities in Vauxhall But despite our strengths, challenges remain including the cost of living, skills shortages, and accessibility issues. We believe in a united approach, bringing together stakeholders to create a safer, more inclusive, and thriving night time economy. That’s why we welcome the Taskforce’s collaboration with the Met Police, TfL, and London Councils.
