Our CEO, Pauline Daniyan, attended the Downing Street launch yesterday of a Civil Society Covenant designed to create a partnership between government and civil society and help tackle some of the country’s biggest challenges. Pauline commented on the importance of this new initiative: "It is encouraging to hear the Prime Minister’s words of recognition for their vital support. As a sector, we welcome a new era of collaboration with the voluntary sector, both in spirit and in substance. Labour’s commitment to establish a new partnership between government, business and community organisations is an important step forward. We look forward to seeing more detail and to lending our support to this positive initiative.” Find out more about the Covenant: https://lnkd.in/edbEQWvV
London Youth
Non-profit Organizations
Championing and strengthening London’s youth organisations so young people have the opportunities and skills they need.
About us
We are London Youth: a charity on a mission to champion and strengthen London’s youth organisations so young people have the opportunities and skills they need to succeed. We do this with and through our members – a network of 600 youth organisations – and at our two outdoor residential centres, Hindleap Warren and Woodrow High House. Throughout our 135-year history, community youth organisations have provided a constant lifeline and a vital safe space outside the family and formal education, where young people can develop confidence, resilience and skills. Young people need opportunities outside school to have fun with their friends, to make a positive change in their communities and to shape the city they live in.

Young people’s mental health and wellbeing is in crisis, with increasing numbers of young women needing help with mental health issues – particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. We believe the relationships young people have with their youth workers and the safe spaces offered by youth organisations are crucial for young people’s mental health and wellbeing. This #WorldMentalHealthDay we spotlight our Good for Girls programme which offers young girls from Black, Asian and/or from minority ethnic communities access to relevant, holistic early intervention mental health support in trusted grassroots community youth space. Over the summer, we've trained almost 30 youth practitioners from our membership in diverse mental health training, including mental health first aid training, stress management and how to create a safe space for young girls to talk about their feelings. Good for Girls is funded by Dukes Education and delivered in partnership with Feeling Social, Haptivate, Teen Yoga Foundation and Fitzrovia Youth in Action. #mentalhealth #goodforgirls

Our Chief Executive Pauline Daniyan joined Bob Singha, Director of Coaching at one of our member organisations Catalyst in Communities, yesterday as part of an exciting project to showcase inspirational stories of how youth workers are helping to nurture and support children and young people in meaningful and transformative ways. Thank you, CIC for the chance to connect with our incredible community to discuss opportunities to tackle the challenges facing young Londoners, the role of youth spaces in keeping young people safe and supported, and the importance of different sectors coming together to create environments and opportunities that help young people thrive. Let’s keep working together to keep great youth work alive. #ittakesavillage #youthwork
Imagine leading an organisation that supports and nurtures 600 youth organisations in London. Meet, connect and reconnect with Pauline Daniyan- CEO of London Youth. Yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting our conversation at Catalyst in Communities offices in London Docklands. We are proud members of London Youth and have been for many years. In fact Woodrow High House - Outdoor Learning & Leisure Centre has felt like a second home for us. If you know you know. Pauline was so gracious with her time, insight and views. Good things will come from yesterday’s conversation. I’m grateful. Pauline is good people. It feels important and meaningful to able to meet again in person, face to face. Genuine, authentic conversations can be transformational. Which ones will you have today I wonder. In our current economic, political and social climate in London, it is extremely important to advocate for, nurture, train, mentor and coach youth workers and the organisations they work for. Pauline and her organisation are at the forefront of this mission. Please make some time today to find out more about London Youth . Support, thank, celebrate, encourage, join, contribute to. Remember it takes a village. #ittakesavillage
