A lower case approach means softly softly catchy rabbit. We’re not the loudest - nor the most prolific - and we’re lucky enough to only work with brands we truly believe in. The Dead Rabbit was one of our first clients, and Jack McGarry's commitment to always giving his team the tools they need to succeed has enabled us to work together in holistic and meaningful ways. The Dead Rabbit is so much more than just a bar, and as the group expands with The Irish Exit and new locations across the US, we couldn’t be prouder to play a tiny part in its important, authentic story. Erin go bragh.

Based in Seattle, Washington, Westland Distillery boasts a portfolio of superior quality single malt whiskies crafted in a distinctly American style. And while we love spirits in all their forms, whiskey (and whisky) always piques our interest. Recently awarded B Corp certification, Westland is well-established amongst whiskey aficionados, known for its collectable Outpost Range and Heritage Collection, alongside the Flagship Single Malt. Through our recent partnership with Westland Distillery, we were tasked with broadening the brand’s target audience and reaching a new demographic of bartenders within the USA. To do this, we interviewed the Rémy Cointreau team and evaluated the current brand positioning to identify strengths and opportunities. Next, we established a new brand direction and created seven cocktails to strategically reintroduce Westland Flagship to the on-trade. We filmed recipe and advocacy videos with Mr Lyan, and built a new trade-focused website to house all content. The positioning we developed, ‘The Taste of the West’, seeks to highlight the connection between Westland Distillery and its home in the Pacific Northwest. On the new website, ‘Bartender’s Field Guide’, you’ll find a bartender toolkit and easy-to-replicate cocktails, designed to make the brand more accessible. From stirred-down classics like the Old Fashioned and Boulevardier to the lighter, brighter Spritz, and unexpected serves like our take on an Espresso Martini, these signature cocktails help the on-trade to better understand the product, and how to use it behind the bar. “It’s unique to find a partner who is truly passionate about your brand, but also has the perfect combination of experience and capabilities to bring your project to life. Working with Mr Lyan Studio was a top-notch experience from start to finish. They became a true extension of our team, immersing themselves in our brand while bringing fresh ideas to the table to help us craft a compelling experience to bring Westland to a new generation of bartenders." – Jason Moore, Managing Director of Westland Distillery. Tasked with coming up with a slogan to sit atop The Irish Exit at Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station ‘One For The Road?’ seemed the most fitting choice. We wanted this to sound playful and suggestive, a little tongue-in-cheek, while also fitting the concept - an Irish pub in a transit hub in bustling Midtown Manhattan. Context is key. Not pictured - around 60 Irish facts for the announcement board, cocktail names, newsletter and web copy. lower case socials for The Irish Exit, social media management and copywriting, July 2023 - present day ✍🏼 📸 one by Nicholas Ruiz 📸 two - five by Drink In

Céad Míle Fáilte, Y’all. The excitement of seeing something grow from a Google Doc to IRL never gets old. Created specifically for The Dead Rabbit Austin, we wanted this brand motto to feel fun and welcoming, embracing The Dead Rabbit’s Irish heritage, while also feeling like part of the local Texan community. lower case socials for The Dead Rabbit, social media management and copywriting, March 2022 - present day ✍🏼 📸 by Nicholas Ruiz

When touring Ireland with The Dead Rabbit team in 2017, we visited over 100 Irish pubs, covering 5,000 miles and 29 Counties. And while each pub had its own story and style, they all had one thing in common - their commitment to a good welcome, and hospitable inclusivity, often saying ‘As long as you pay for your drinks and you’re nice to people, I don’t care who you are.’ That sentiment inspired the wording for The Dead Rabbit credo. This ‘Notice to Patrons’ is the first thing a guest sees when they walk through the doors at this multi-award-winning, world-acclaimed pub, so it’s important. A statement of intent, we wrote this to feel welcoming, inclusive, and perhaps most importantly - Irish. And now, it’s on display in Austin, too. lower case socials for The Dead Rabbit, social media management and copywriting, March 2022 - present day ✍🏼 📸 one by Nicholas Ruiz 📸 two and three by Drink In

‘Tradition, Meet Tomorrow’ was one of five or six taglines we wrote for The Dead Rabbit, but it was always our top pick. Thankfully, Jack McGarry and the team agreed. This brand statement has since appeared on the bar’s menus and t-shirts and is frequently used on the web and socials. It succinctly communicates The Dead Rabbit’s commitment to honoring the traditional Irish pubs of yesteryear, while also championing the Ireland of today - diverse, creative, and bursting at the seams with talent. lower case socials for The Dead Rabbit, social media management and copywriting, March 2022 - present day ✍🏼 📸 Photos by Nicholas Ruiz
