  • Recent insights from The Lanes Group are showing the importance of employee satisfaction. Nearly 8 out of 10 (78%) of UK workers said they were either happy or very happy with their current roles. ¹ But why are they happy? 🤔 It's no secret that employees are often much happier when they have a stable income, feel appreciated for their work efforts, and feel valued by their managers and directors. However, knowing that the business they are working for invests in their wellbeing as much as they invest in the business contributes significantly to their satisfaction. Employees are then aware of the resources available to them when they begin to experience things such as workplace burnout or poor mental health.🧠 This is not only beneficial for the employee, but the workplace as a whole. If employees are excited to be at work and are aware of the support from directors, it inevitably boosts productivity and improves workplace culture! 🙌 [1] - Lanes Group Careers. • The 40-hour work week is being re-evaluated as evidence shows that reduced working hours can lead to enhanced employee wellbeing and increased productivity. 📈 Data from The State of Workplace Burnout (2024) evidences that people working 40+ hours weekly are more likely experience burnout compared to employees on a reduced-hours model (42% versus 9%, respectively). It suggests that optimised work hours, along with a focus on employee wellbeing, leads to significantly higher employee effectiveness and wellbeing. Changing this typical working model can not only decrease mental exhaustion but also improve morale amongst employees. 😀 As a result, the reduced hours scheme is gaining traction as an effective strategy for businesses who aim to optimise efficiency and improve business performance. In fact, more than 80% of people in the UK said they would prefer a four-day work week[³], in comparison to those who are working 40+ hours. So what does this mean? 🤔 With employees experiencing less stress due to reduced hours and a decreased workload, they are more likely to increase their productivity and feel content within their roles. #fourdayworkweek #employee #wellbeing #productivity #livewell [1] Infinite Potential. 🚨 UK Workplace Sickness Reaches £100bn Annually 🚨 Recent analysis by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) reveals that the rising cost of workplace sickness now surpasses £100bn a year. This increase is largely due to “staggering” levels of presenteeism, where employees work while ill, leading to a substantial loss of productivity. Key findings from the report: 📈 The cost of workplace sickness has surged from £73bn in 2018 to £103bn in 2023. 💼 Reduced productivity, largely due to presenteeism, accounts for £25bn of this cost, with employees losing an average of 44 days of productivity. 🚑 Sick leave has risen, with employees taking an average of 6.7 days off, up from 3.7 days in 2018. 😷 Presenteeism remains an issue, with UK workers among the least likely to take sick days compared to their OECD and European counterparts. 🧠 Mental health training for managers leads to better business outcomes, including improved customer service, enhanced employee retention, and fewer long-term sick leaves. With the cost of sickness climbing, it's evident that businesses must prioritise employee health and wellbeing. At The Livewell Syndicate, we really do believe that proactive health measures are key. We build bespoke solutions, including Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, employee health screening assessments, counselling, workshops, metabolic gas analysis and many more. These services are not only designed to support employee wellbeing but also enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism, and foster a healthier workplace culture. 🤷🏻♂️ [1] Guardian News and Media. • Gallup’s 2023 report shows that employee stress is at a record high, with 44% feeling stressed daily[¹]. Many companies seem to be turning to AI to try and combat this issue[²]. But is this really working for businesses? 🤔 AI can help with daily tasks and reduce some of the stress associated with everyday work. However, it lacks the human touch and the ability to understand the impact of stress on employees. Businesses relying solely on AI often find the results to be broad and generic, leaving employees without personalised wellbeing initiatives. A real-world specialist, on the other hand, can tailor wellbeing initiatives to suit the needs of the workforce and develop an understanding of employees on a deeper level, providing personalised support that AI cannot. 👍 Investing in your workforce directly correlates with improved business performance, with ROI's of up to £10.81 per £1 spent[³], and that’s best achieved through human expertise and understanding, not just algorithms! Would you deploy AI in your organisation to support employees?🤔 #AI #workplacewellbeing #stress #support #livewell [1] Gallup. I've got some exciting news! Our company, Zenith Developments Group Ltd, is taking a proactive approach to our health and well-being. We're introducing a monthly "Health Day" on the last Friday of every month. On this day, we'll be putting our laptops and phones aside to focus on our health. We'll have The Livewell Syndicate PT sessions, just like we did today. But that's not all! We're also bringing in blood tests, sleep pattern analysis, stress level monitoring, and even metabolic gas analysis testing and much much more!! All of this is to help us understand our bodies better and make informed decisions about our health. I also hope this will transfer to the families of my colleague's, who I hope will see the benefits in there partners. I'm super passionate about creating a work environment that priorities our well-being. We're going to spend the next 12 months and beyond implementing these initiatives to create an ironclad environment that supports our health and happiness. Stay tuned for more updates! See below some photos from today. #teamzdg #healthyenvironmenthealthyteam #bestteamIcouldwishfor

Now you are probably wondering, what are the pros versus the cons of a four-day working week?🤔 Well actually, there's a few... See, there are a handful of pros to the new four-day work week model, with many employers and business leaders implementing this into their organisations. An article from Reed listed the pros as follows: 1️⃣ An increase in productivity levels ¹ 2️⃣ Happier employees and fewer absences ² 3️⃣ Better recruitment and retention ³ However, with sunshine, there always comes a little rain, and of course, there are going to be some cons to the four-day week including: 👎 The fact that not all industries can adopt this model ⁴ 👎 Potential pay cuts 👎 Possible increase in workload per day While the four-day work week offers exciting opportunities for improving productivity and employee satisfaction, it's important to consider and address the potential challenges it brings. Evaluating how this model fits within your sector and specific business, you can make informed decisions that balance the benefits and drawbacks. ⚖️ #fourdayworkweek #productivity #happyemployees #wellbeing #livewell [1-4] - A.
