One Year Qualified!
As I reflect on my first year post-qualification, it’s been an exciting and transformative journey since qualifying on August 10, 2023.
My post-qualification journey started off with a bang, just a week after qualifying, I embarked on my first trip to Malaysia— majority of which was on my own. Excited? Yes! Terrified? Absolutely! A true test and defining moment arose when attending my first client meeting, realizing the team in London was fast asleep, and I had nobody but myself to rely on. Turns out I had nothing to be terrified of after all, I managed it alone, successfully, and that gave me a huge boost of confidence!
Malaysia played a very important role in both my personal and professional life during this year, having spent 2 months there across 3 separate trips. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and how business is conducted, which has been essential in building strong client relationships and delivering the best possible advice.
Some highlights:
- Assisted in drafting and reviewing key agreements for a multi-jurisdictional transaction.
- Independently negotiated parts of a $700mn+ share purchase agreement and ancillary documents against Magic Circle and City law firms.
- Expanded my knowledge of the Oil & Gas sector through a visit to an LNG regasification terminal and discussions with experts in this field.
To top it off, I met some wonderful people and made great friendships along the way. A big thank you to LXL for the continued trust and support that has helped me grow at such a fast pace.
