Last Friday, the AIAC welcomed a visit from Dr. Nudrat E. Piracha and Mr Azm Ali from Pakistan’s esteemed law firm SAMDANI QURESHI AQLAAL (SQA), a member of Andersen Global, during their recent visit to Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was an excellent opportunity for both sides to discuss the evolving ADR landscapes in Malaysia and Pakistan. Dr. Piracha, who is also the CEO of Pakistan’s International Centre for Appropriate Dispute Resolution and Prevention (ICADRP), provided valuable insights into regional trends and dispute resolution developments in Pakistan. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Piracha and Mr. Ali for an engaging exchange. We look forward to deepening our relationship with our colleagues in Pakistan and pursuing common objectives within Asia’s dynamic ADR landscape.

The AIAC was delighted to host student delegates from the Asian Law Students' Association Local Chapter Universitas Diponegoro (ALSA LC Undip), as part of their ALSA International Legal Visit & Training (AILVT) 2024 programme. Our Assistant Director, Ms. Heather Yee Jing Wah 余晶华, welcomed the delegation with opening remarks, highlighting the growing role of ADR in resolving global disputes. Thereafter, our Case Counsels, Ms. Raagini Sama Sundaram and Mr. Vishnu Menon presented on the Centre's role as an international arbitral institution in the ADR landscape including the AIAC’s products and services, recent developments, and practical insights of arbitration procedures. The visit concluded with a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities at Bangunan Sulaiman, showcasing the AIAC as a top venue for the conduct of ADR hearings. The networking sessions and Gala Dinner were the highlights of our sixth ASIA ADR WEEK 2024, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and meaningful connections among participants, speakers, and guests. The AIAC is pleased to support the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration (RIMA) “Winter Academy on International Arbitration 2025” which is an educational platform for young professionals to gain a deeper understanding of international arbitration. The Winter Academy is an opportunity for individuals from various backgrounds to gather, exchange knowledge, participate in practical sessions, and engage in foundational courses on arbitration. We are thrilled to have been a supporting organization for this year’s AIAC ADR Week, a remarkable event that brought together industry leaders, professionals, and thought innovators to discuss the latest trends and advancements in alternative dispute resolution (ADR). A special highlight for us was Day 3, Session 4, where our Director, Cindy Wong Xien Yee, participated virtually. The debate focused on key topics like the role of mediation as a complement to adjudication under CIPAA and the rising costs of adjudication proceedings.
