There are key Issues impacting women and girls in Manchester. From safety concerns like violence and harassment to gaps in mental health support, inflexible work environments, and representation challenges, it's clear that systemic change is needed. Several things were highlighted as important at our IWD 2025 BeHER: Women's Community Festival at the beginning of the month: ✅ Specialised police training to address violence against women. ✅ Intersectional and inclusive support systems. ✅ Flexible job opportunities and liveable wages. ✅ Education to promote dignity, respect, and equality. Many of our key decision-makers helping to shape the future of our city are women. They are prioritising these critical issues and taking them forward to drive meaningful change for Manchester. 💪 Let’s work together to create a safer, more equitable city for all. #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #WomenInLeadership #EqualityForAll #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #Manchester

It might feel a little bit parky but the sun's out and we're guessing you are too 🎉 In case you haven't clocked it yet it's nearly time for us to lose an hour as the clocks go forward at 1am tomorrow, Sunday 30 March. Don't forget to change your manual clocks, alarms and heating timers. That also means that Manchester's summer events like CityCo & Manchester City Centre BID's Manchester Flower Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, Manchester Pride, Manchester Carnival, Factory International's MIF25 and Manchester Day will be back soon and they'll be a few new things happening in Manchester this year too. 🎉 Free-to-attend events like these are important to the city and show the importance of community, culture and diversity in Manchester and another way of giving a little back to our residents, something we are very proud of.😊 First up, the community-led St George's Day Parade and scooter ride out, 27 April. #SpringForward #BritishSummerTime #Manchester

As we come to the end of Women's History month, we celebrate future women leader's who are part of our LeadHERship in Colour programme, a council leadership pathway programme cohort of aspiring women. Their personal and professional journeys to become future leadHERS led them to celebrate International Women's Day and their achievements so far at a special event as part of this year's Accelerate Action theme. They were joined by some truly exceptional leaders who talked about their experiences and gave guidance on being a strong female leader. 🏛️ Manchester City Council's Councillor Yasmine Dar, the 125th Lord Mayor of Manchester, and Councillor Lee-Ann Igbon, Exec Member for Vibrant Neighbourhoods. 💄 Gloria Zimba, Business Strategist and CEO of FKay Cosmetics Zambia. 🤲 Sharmila Kar, Joint Director of Equality, Inclusion and Engagement at @Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Integrated Care. A truly inspiring event for this cohort of aspiring leadHERS 💪 #WomensHistoryMonth #IWD25 #LocalGov #FutureLeaders #Leadership #IWDMcr

We’re enjoying the blossom in Manchester. The National Trust's free map will take you to some of the city's floral hotspots. 🌸 It’s a great way to explore the city whether you’re walking to work, enjoying a spot of lunch in the park or ready for a big blossom spotting adventure. 🌼 Open the map, select a route and discover a host of nature hotspots. Each one has a plaque with information about the place and the nature surrounding it. 🗺️ And share your blossom photos with us! We’d love to see them. Thanks to our colleagues for sharing these photos of the blossom display at Manchester Art Gallery . 📷 Get the digital map at: https://lnkd.in/e3KWyAV6 Or pick up a paper copy at Central Library, Castlefield Viaduct or Sadlers Yard. #ZeroCarbonMcr #BlossomWatch #LoadsToDo

We have major investment plans for Collyhurst in the coming years and we think it's important that local people are part of the journey. That's why we worked with local school children in the area to name the social housing apartments, which are being built as part of the first phase of regeneration in the area.
