We caught up with Daniel White, Market Development Director at MCS, who discusses the importance of accurate data entry when creating MCS certificates and recording installations in the MCS Installation Database (MID). Installers play a key role in ensuring data quality, which influences industry progress, government policies, consumer confidence, and future opportunities for certified installers. The data entered into MCS certificates is used to monitor growth, identify trends, and inform government policy decisions, such as funding programs like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and Smart Export Guarantee. Installers are responsible for submitting accurate installation details, which help shape policies and secure grants for consumers. Dan also highlights common data entry errors and their consequences. Examples include incorrect reporting of installation costs (especially when grants are involved), misidentifying heat pump system types, and inaccuracies in address and capacity details.
