  • We were delighted to collect the prestigious Business Leadership Award at last night's Scottish Legal Awards in Glasgow. This recognition, decided purely by the judging panel, demonstrates both our CEO Chris Harte and COO Neil Kennedy's exceptional leadership during the merger. It's a true testament to how their vision, combined with the collective talents and resources of MFMac's people, has driven success and commercial growth. Thank you to our people and our clients for their ongoing support in making this possible. #ScottishLegalAwards

  • With Scotland’s 2045 net zero goal on the horizon, transforming buildings to be more energy-efficient is essential. The Scottish Government’s proposed Heat in Buildings Bill aims to address this need, using devolved powers to drive change, particularly in heating. This could mean new minimum energy efficiency standards—already in place in England—might soon be part of Scotland’s strategy. In her latest article, Sally Anthony, Professional Support Lawyer in MFMac's Real Estate team, explores the details of the recent consultation on this bill and what it could mean for Scotland’s climate targets. As part of MFMac's ongoing commitment to the environment, our team had the privilege of volunteering with our longstanding client, Scottish Wildlife Trust, for a meadow raking project at Carlingnose Point, North Queensferry. Volunteers Alan Stewart, Lauren McGill, Rosalind Leslie, Thomas Paxton and Sarah Pengelly worked alongside wildlife experts to help restore this important habitat.   We are proud to contribute to the preservation of natural spaces, and the surrounding community. We look forward to continuing our support of the Scottish Wildlife Trust and their important work.

  • A recent Court of Session decision found that a Scottish administration can be declared as ancillary to an insolvency process in another jurisdiction, meaning that the insolvency proceedings in one jurisdiction are considered as the main insolvency proceedings, while the ancillary proceedings in the other jurisdiction are restricted to dealing with the company’s assets located there.   In her latest article, featured in the Scottish Financial News, Jennifer Andrew, a Senior Associate in MFMac's Litigation team, discusses the handling of concurrent insolvency processes in different jurisdictions and the implications of this decision.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/eTh8ZEPC
