About us
When a group of Middlesex gents came together in the London Tavern in 1864, few could've predicted what the next 153 years would hold. We now know it all started with a win. Vyell Edward Walker stole the show, leading the newly constituted Middlesex County Cricket Club to a glorious victory over Sussex County on 7 June 1864; with an impressive margin of one innings and 52 runs. By 1877 the club has taken permanent place at Lord's - the only team to ever have the honour of calling 'the Home of Cricket', home. As the years elapsed, 21 championship titles were collected - including two NatWest trophies, a Division Two Championship, the Benson & Hedges Cup, two Gillette Cups and the 2008 Twenty20 Cup. With a long and proud history in the County Championship, Middlesex has developed many of the world's greatest cricketers including Dennis Comption, Mike Gatting, John Emburey and Andrew Strauss. The tradition continues today with a new crop of the game's best and brightest, like Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn, Fran Wilson and Dawid Malan. Not a bad innings so far, here's to the next 150 years.

Middlesex Cricket is pleased to partner with GLL to introduce Walking Cricket 🏏 across the county. We strongly believe in making🏏 accessible to all, irrespective of age etc. Walking Cricket not only has the benefit of making participants healthier but also has the power of breaking down loneliness, help build new friendships, a new sense of belonging/community & at times helps with grieving the loss of loved ones. In my humble opinion Walking Cricket is one of the biggest growth opportunity for 🏏 across the country. To find your nearest Walking Cricket GLL centre click on the link 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/eZ583xxm

'Such is the power of sport'. Powerful work being done by the Club and our Local Councils to support access to cricket for all. Islington Council Haringey Council #OneMiddlesex
Not usually one for LinkedIn posts, but it's Refugee Week! Nearly 6 months ago through conversations with sports teams from local councils, some amazing charities and resettlement teams came about the idea to offer some form of cricket activity to boost the mental, physical and social health of asylum seekers and refugees who reside in London. In a matter of days, they showed that they could bat and bowl like seasoned cricketers, turn up for sessions on time via public transport with 'little to no', English language skills and make the best use of the opportunity given. They came as a group of individuals 24 weeks ago, and just last Sunday played together as the 'Middlesex Mavericks' in the MDL competition against Southgate CC in their first competitive fixture in years and ran them close, looking every bit like they belonged on the stage. Such is the power of sport, and what happens when a few like-minded individuals (not naming them because of the 'hate' they get for helping this disadvantaged community) work together (with their backs against the wall), with support from their organisations and bosses and turn little dreams into reality. While several of these individuals who've left their families far behind, day-to-day battle much real threats from vote-hungry politicians, homelessness, poverty, boredom, poor mental health, etc - cricket/sport gives them that much-needed ray of sunshine in their lives. Big shout out to my bosses (old and new) at Middlesex Cricket and all the good folks at Islington Council, Haringey Council and social workers who turn up to the tube station each week to top-up the players' transport cards so they can get to go and play. #Cricket #RefugeesWelcome #MDL
