Congratulations to the entire team at Greenpower Education Trust, on their 25th International Final at #Goodwood. We are proud to have sponsored and be part of the Greenpower Education Trust Challenge aimed at inspiring the next generation of young engineers through the design, build and racing of electric cars. It was great to see the passion and determination of the young teams who have been on an exciting journey to reach and compete at the finals at Goodwood. Seeing the creativity shine through design work and innovative builds, created by the individuals and teams in both age categories was inspiring. Nurturing an interest in engineering at a young age is wonderful, which is why we’re privileged to be able to support programmes such as those created by the Greenpower Education Trust as they pave the way for our future with the next generation of engineers. #mirusaircraftseating #engineering #inspirethenextgeneration #stem

We are proud and excited to be teaming up with Greenpower Education Trust this Sunday, 13th October, to help inspire a future generation of innovators and engineers by sponsoring the International Finals of its electric car motor race at Goodwood Motor Circuit, West Sussex. After weeks of building, preparation and a series of competitions to establish the finalists, 100 teams of budding engineers aged between 11 to 25 will race their self constructed electric racing cars in the F24 and F24+ categories at Goodwood Motor Circuit, the historic home of British motor racing. Continuing our ‘In the Seat’ series, where we are talking to and getting insight into some of the most experienced and talented people in the industry who we are lucky to call our colleagues. Today we are talking to our Applications Engineering Manager, Lee Bannon. “My primary role with support from my direct team, is to manage customer projects through engineering and certification to ensure that we tailor and review our seats to the customers’ technical needs and requirements, then recommend specific solutions so that they are compliant. My journey and love of engineering started many years ago when I became an Apprentice Engineer aged 18. It was from here I discovered how much I enjoy working in areas where I can make an impact and see the growth within a team and a business. Over the years that I have worked in aerospace, the market has changed dramatically. The biggest change I’ve seen has been the certification requirements which have evolved to promote the increased safety requirements within an aircraft cabin. My stand out moment at Mirus so far has to be obtaining UKTSO of Kestrel in May 2023 after a successful certification campaign. From applying for the TSO to completion of the project, the way the seat was certified was efficient, well-structured and a great team effort. Outside work I enjoy valuable family time. I’m a big fan of Formula One, and a passion of mine is building engines for project cars. Last week we celebrated our Mirus All Summer Social, a day set aside outside of the office to recognise the hard work and dedication of the Mirus team. Hosted at Wymondham Rugby Club, our Exec Team presented business updates from the last 12 months, plans for the year ahead and vision beyond, also the Long Service Awards. After a delicious BBQ lunch, the fun outdoor activities began including giant garden games from Jenga to Connect 4, sporting events culminating in a tug of war, archery and a falconry display by Jo from Lavenham Falconry - Sybil the Harris Hawk definitely stole the show!.
