Yesterday we co-hosted an exclusive breakfast event with Positive Luxury at our Duke of York Flagship Store to celebrate the launch of our Odyssey Collection. We brought together industry leaders, key brand partners, loyal customers and influencers, who all deeply care about sustainability, for both people and planet. Our CPO, Megan Shearer, shared some insights on the design inspiration and journey towards creating our first fully traceable collection. A Q&A was then hosted by Amy Nelson-Bennett, with Olivia Canham, our Sustainability Manager, on the impact of this collection, how its fits into our broader strategy and what's next for us as a brand. It was a hugely successful event and a great opportunity to take a moment to celebrate such an incredible milestone in our raw material traceability journey.

The journey to our Odyssey Collection—one stone and an epic story. Introducing Odyssey, the first collection of its kind. Created in partnership with Zimbaqua—Africa’s first all-female operated and managed gemstone mine—this collection charts new territory in our path towards gemstone traceability and full supply chain transparency. Why is this so important? Monica said it best herself: “Our ultimate goal is to make traceability the norm, not the exception. By giving our customers insights into where their gemstones have come from, they can trust that they have been sourced in conditions they would be proud of as it relates to social and environmental impacts.’’ https://bit.ly/3SEM6oe

Something new has launched today for Team MV... 👀 Our incredible internal committees have clubbed together to create a quarterly newsletter, making it really easy for all of their colleagues to see the work they are doing, as well as sharing news, tips or insights relating to their area of expertise. The magazine contains content contributed by: 😎 Feel Good, who focus on all things wellbeing under their pillars of Mind, Munch, Money and Move ♻ Green Team, who lead the way on weaving sustainability into everything we do 👐 We Belong, who are passionate about our workplaces and practices being inclusive to all 🧠 We Care, our Mental Health First Aiders who are on hand for support and guidance In the interest of sustainability, we are keeping printed copies to the absolute minimum and in key spots, like in our London office reception area for our visitors to flick through. Shout out to Clara Bush, Natalie Bean, Olivia Canham, Alice Beddows, Louise Sparkes and Archie Willis who got this first edition pulled together and shared today!

Here at Monica Vinader Ltd, we have four employee-led committees that help to authentically embed our values and culture in our day-to-day at Team MV. This includes our We Belong team who champion all things DE&I and as part of their celebration of Pride Month, we had guest speaker Lee Thomas Wragg 🌈 (he/him/they) from Changing Hearts & Minds Consulting Ltd host two webinars for us: Pride 2024: The History and Continuing Importance of Pride 🌈 👨❤️👨 How to be an Ally to the LGBTQIA+ Community 🌈 👩❤️👩 We are committed to active action and education to support our workplace being better, inclusive and accessible to all. With strong attendance across all of our global teams, we were able to learn about the history and continuing importance of Pride, the different types of allies as well as why it’s important and what we can personally gain from being an ally to the community and individuals within it. Lee Thomas Wragg 🌈 thank you for your time, expertise, and sharing your lived experiences. We loved having you and can’t wait to have you host another webinar soon. To everyone else out there, recommending Changing Hearts & Minds Consulting Ltd as a brilliant business who can support you with both tailor made and off the shelf content for your DE&I journey, today and beyond. What's more, they give 20% of their profits to charities supporting vulnerable LGBTQIA+ people 😍

Earlier this week Megan Shearer, our Chief Product Officer, joined the UN Global Compact Network UK Fashion Sector Exchange to speak with Melanie C Grant, Executive Director at the RJC about how we have embedded our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals within our business and supply chain. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the progress we've made, especially hearing about the importance of supply chain traceability and transparency. We are proud to reflect on the progress we've made since the launch of Product Passport, our blockchain-powered supply chain transparency initiative, which now allows our customers to trace the journey of over 400 products from source to market. The fashion and jewellery sectors have much work to do to deliver the SDGs and we need to collaborate to drive meaningful action. It was inspiring to connect and learn from other brands who are also committed to embedding these goals into their business models.
More supply chain transparency, product traceability, and stakeholder collaboration will be needed to accelerate sustainability in the fashion sector through the Sustainable Development Goals. Representatives from business, government, academia, and civil society came together today to discuss how to anticipate major sustainability challenges to stay ahead of the curve, and to explore emerging trends and upcoming regulations in the fashion sector. Topics included: 🆚 Slow vs. fast fashion Our panel addressed how differing business models can respectively integrate ESG solutions and highlight how the Sustainable Development Goals can unify the sector through a common language. Many thanks to our speakers Lisa Smosarski (The Stylist Group), Annabella Ng (SHEIN), Josephine Philips (SOJO), and Rachel Arthur (UN Environment Programme). ⚡ Disruption in supply chains In this fireside chat, Melanie C Grant from Responsible Jewellery Council talked to Megan Shearer from the leading jewellery brand Monica Vinader Ltd about how they underpin the SDGs into their supply and value chain to protect people and the planet at a time of global crisis. ❓ What’s next in sustainable fashion Our last panel closed the day by looking ahead to 2025 and assessed the emerging issues facing the fashion industry such as the role of AI and innovation (SDG 9), ethical manufacturing (SDG 11), and regenerative fashion (SDG 15), and shared tangible solutions to addressing these challenges. With many thanks to Tamara Cincik (Fashion Roundtable ORG LTD), Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey (UK House of Lords), Bex Hall (Sedex), Tamsin Lejeune (Common Objective), and Rahemur Rahman (British Bangladeshi Fashion Council). Many thanks to Fashion Roundtable ORG LTD for the support and Soho House & Co for hosting us. We believe in leading with purpose-driven action, and Monica's Meadow is a testament to this commitment. Started in 2022, Monica’s Meadow is a landscape regeneration project transforming degraded farmland next to our design studio in Norfolk, restoring the space to a native, species-rich wildflower meadow — and it is blooming for the first time this year. A huge thank you to Emily Chan and Vogue for highlighting our progress so far. https://lnkd.in/e2B2k6Ke

We are committed to global sustainability targets, and collaboration is key to achieving those goals. As a committed member of the UN Global Compact, Megan Shearer, our CPO, was invited to attend this roundtable discussion with key business and government representatives. It was a hugely valuable event exploring how the private and public sector can work together to accelerate progress towards the SDGs, by taking tangible accountable actions. At Monica Vinader we ensure our sustainability strategy and each project within that is aligned to each our chosen SDGs. This ensure we stay focused and always link our local projects to global ambitions. To read more about our sustainability progress click here: https://lnkd.in/egfhdatB
The SDGs provide a unique framework — with a built-in level of ambition — for all stakeholders to align with environmental and social objectives that are important for building resilience, measuring success, and generating economic and growth opportunities. Yesterday, the UN Global Compact Network UK hosted a roundtable discussion to facilitate a multi-stakeholder exchange of knowledge and perspectives regarding advancing the SDGs nationally and globally. We were delighted to be joined by Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary General and CEO of the United Nations Global Compact, as well as members of the UN Global Compact Government Group. The Group is composed of Member State representatives who meet bi-annually with UN Global Compact leadership and senior staff to provide strategic guidance, review progress and shape future plans and priorities. It was clear from the discussions that achieving the Goals requires an unprecedented effort across all aspects of society, and businesses must work in partnership with governments and civil society organisations to do so. #SDGs #Agenda2030
