Mr & Mrs Smith

Travel Arrangements

The travel club for hotel lovers. Find and book the world’s best boutique stays.

About us

Mr & Mrs Smith (a nod to the classic check-in nom de plume for illicit stays of old) began life in 2003 and has evolved into a global travel club with more than a million like-minded members. Our carefully curated (and responsibly sourced) collection now includes hotels in the sky (if you’ve never woken up in a treehouse, we can change that), hotels in caves, hotels above water, hotels underwater (well, partially), hotels a million miles away, hotels on your doorstep… It’s no accident that the collection is so special. Entry is by invitation only and every hotel is visited by our team and anonymously reviewed by a diverse bunch of trusted tastemakers, including Stella McCartney, Philip Treacy and Dita Von Teese, to name a few. Our work doesn’t stop with considered curation, mind. We ensure that our members receive the very best service, support and inspiration. It’s what makes us the travel club for hotel lovers. And if every club has a purpose, ours is to knock your socks off – with help from the world’s very best bedrooms…

World Mental Health day To mark World Mental Health Day and the Mental Health Foundation, we’re doing one tiny thing to lift the pressure. Today, our teams at Mr & Mrs Smith are taking the day off. As a distributed team, we take wellbeing very seriously and live the ethos that success is not about the hours you put in, but the outcomes we achieve. When you work in a fully remote business, it can be difficult to build effective divisions between work and life and to manage time away from your desk without guilt creeping in. Contrary to the oft-vaunted opinions of the come-to-the-office corporate club, team members working from home can often feel wedded to their work in ways that their commuting colleagues don’t always. A one-day break isn’t going to fix this, of course, and it’s not going to miraculously save anyone who is struggling. But it’s a step towards acknowledging and alleviating the pressures we all face in the modern world of work. Other measures we have in place include: 👐 Days off for volunteering 🧠 Monthly one-on-one personal coaching sessions 🧘♀️ Breathwork and yoga during working hours 🍃 Free access to the Headspace app 💲 Financial health learning sessions – because worrying about your finances is not good for your mental health We know there’s much more we can do, so we’re always interested in hearing what sort of practices and policies other organisations put in place. What does your organisation do to support mental health? #WMHD2024

The 48-hour city Is it possible to get your head around the heart of city in just one weekend? The short answer is ‘no’, but that should never stop you from trying. Mr & Mrs Smith’s editorial team of seasoned city-breakers have just introduced a new series of snack-size guides designed to show travellers how to squeeze the most out of a two-day stay in some of the world’s most beautiful cities. Taking you from the thrill-out fun of Friday night to the chill-out vibes of Sunday evening, via under-the-radar cultural highlights, each one is stuffed to the gills with all the insider information you expect from Smith – what to see, where to stay, and the best spots to drink, dine and hang out, avoiding the crowds. Whether you’re planning a tapas tour of Barcelona, looking to make a splash in Bath, eyeing up avante garde galleries in Athens, or hungry for the best bites in Porto, you’ll find what you need. Very proud to showcase our new alliance with Under Canvas Inc. From the towering redwoods and vertiginous rock faces of Yosemite, to the red-rock desert of Lake Powell Grand Staircase, the forest lakelands of Glacier to the scenic seascapes of Acadia, America’s National Parks contain some of the world’s most spellbinding topography. And there’s nowhere better to experience these greatest of outdoors than from the very heart of them. Under Canvas provides the opportunity to do precisely that, giving Mr & Mrs Smith members access to 13 extraordinary outdoor resorts, outside the most iconic national parks and outdoor destinations across the US. Offering luxurious tented suites, spectacular surroundings, all the thrills of alfresco living beneath the stars, and (s’)more(s), these safari-style stays are just the thing to shake the city out of your head and get back to nature in style. A big thank you to the team at Under Canvas for your help and collaboration in getting the new collection live on the site. Congratulations to Sama Trinder and the team at Bingham Riverhouse | B Corp on being awarded B Corp status. As a fellow B Corp, we know how much work goes into achieving this certification of social and environmental responsibility, and it’s a feat you should be very proud of. Mr & Mrs Smith and Bingham Riverhouse’s relationship is what you might term ‘a keeper’: we’ve notched up double figures in years, and the Bingham has been in Smith’s collection from its infancy. Like most couples, we’ve changed a lot over the years, but a shared love of hotels, of excellence in hospitality, and an ability to evolve with our industry, mean that we’ve stayed together. Where boutique hotels such as the Bingham are showcasing best practice and attaining such milestone certification with B Corp, hopefully more will follow. Here’s to you, Bingham Riverhouse – hope to see you for a celebratory glass or two soon.

"Great hospitality is all in the details." There are few chef-hoteliers with so many accolades and achievements - from Michelin stars to AA rosettes, an MBE and more. Our latest blog post is an interview with Michael Caines owner of Lympstone Manor Hotel, Restaurant and Vineyard, now live on our site. He believes, and we agree, that you can have the most beautiful property in the world but "if the staff aren’t passionate, then the guest experience will be inadequate" What makes Michael special is not just the cooking but his sensitivity around what makes a great experience and his willingness to teach others. Read the full interview on our blog to get all his insider tips on where to eat in Devon (as well as Lympstone of course!), food trends, tips on the perfect dinner party and how he thinks of sustainability, regenerative farming and biodiversity. Thank you to Alex McEwen and all the team at Lympstone Manor for your partnership. #boutiquehotels #travel #food
