The Network, led by National Director Professor Owen Sansom, will capitalise on the UK’s international excellence in mouse and human genetics, and the wider biomedical sciences. The Network will consist of multiple disease-focused clusters pursuing distinctive, but complementary, challenge-led research and the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell acting as a central hub generating and robustly phenotyping strains, performing clinical trials, and providing training. Key within these clusters will be both experts in developing mouse genetic models, and translational and clinical scientists to provide a clear path to clinical translation. Furthermore, the clusters will interact with each other to capitalise on the numerous opportunities there will be for cross-disease learning.

We’re inviting multidisciplinary data and cancer experts to join our data challenge and use large-scale spatial biology data to further cancer research. The final schools are breaking up for the summer this week. We wish everyone a really restful summer! A big thank you goes to all the scientists, engineers, healthcare workers and other professionals who have taken part in Chats with over 265 schools in 760 Chats. 🌟In November we ran the Climate, Marine, Psychology and Genetics Zone. 🌟In January the Royal Institution commissioned the Artificial Intelligence Zone to match their CHRISTMAS LECTURES series. 🌟The Spring Term brought the launch of our new delivery model, allowing teachers to match enrichment to their curriculum, at any point throughout the school year. March was busy with 191 Chats during British Science Week alone! I'm a Scientist will be back, in August, at the start of the Scottish school year. But so will I'm a Mathematician, I'm an Engineer and I'm a Computer Scientist. Now, even more students will get the opportunity to see real-life applications of their classroom studies. A massive thank you goes to our funders. Today we’re delighted to publish our public partnerships strategy🤝 It outlines how we will work with members of the public, researchers and communities to better shape and share research so that it’s more relevant and beneficial to everyone. Our actions and priorities include: 🔹 Working with our research and community public partners to develop their knowledge and practice through training and mentoring. 🔹 Communicating the benefits of meaningful public partnerships for all research areas. 🔹 Establishing a public advisory group to guide our ways of working and support ongoing delivery of the strategy. The strategy builds on our belief that diverse ideas, opinions, knowledge and people enrich our work, and that effective collaboration can lead to better research.
