  • 🎉 Celebrating Nine Incredible Years! 🎉 Today marks a special milestone for Peter Gallagher as he celebrates an amazing 9 years with us here at MTC! 🎊 Pete joined MTC in 2016 as a Trainee Electronics Technician having previously worked in the music industry as a Sound Engineer. He has grown to become an integral part of the team over the years, and his key responsibilities reflect that; electronic and electrical assembly, wire harness preparation and cable assembly, hand soldering of PCB’s, assisting in mechanical assembly, and final testing and inspection of products. Over the nine years working at MTC, Pete has become a certified IPC specialist in IPC 610, 620 and J-Standard, meaning he produces quality results every time. Let’s celebrate Pete in the comments! Here’s to many more years of growth, success, and collaboration! 🙌👏 #EmployeeAnniversary #Gratitude #EmployeeAppreciation

  • Earlier this week, we asked you to guess what this mystery device was—and we received some very creative answers! The wait is over: it’s a sensor for monitoring road surface conditions, developed by Findlay Irvine Ltd in a project commissioned by Highways England. This innovative device uses lasers and multiple lenses to analyse various wavelengths, detecting whether road surfaces are wet, dry, or icy—helping identify potentially dangerous conditions. Unlike previous methods, where data was collected by roadside pole-mounted sensors and retrieved manually by a van returning to base, this sensor provides real-time data from a dedicated IP address based in Bristol, allowing the client to access information instantly and make faster decisions. To ensure the device was fully road-ready, it underwent extended trials in all weather conditions right here at the rear of our offices. This rigorous testing included analysing graph data on ground conditions, which was then visually verified via a video feed to ensure the accuracy of the laser readings. Thanks to real-time insights, appropriate actions—such as deploying gritters, displaying overhead gantry warnings, and issuing travel alerts—can now be taken more quickly and efficiently than ever before. A fantastic example of technology making our roads safer! What do you think of this solution? Let us know in the comments. #engineering #success #professionalrelationship

  • 🌟 Celebrating 50 Years of HSE 🌟 In 1974, the UK recorded 651 workplace injuries. Fast forward 50 years, and thanks to the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the creation of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), that number has dropped drastically. By 2023/2024, only 138 lives were lost in workplace fatal accidents. While this number is still far too high for comfort, the 79% decrease in fatalities is a monumental achievement that is only showing signs of decreasing further yet, and it highlights the profound impact of HSE's efforts. But the work doesn't stop here—HSE, alongside us and other businesses across the UK, continues to push for safer workplaces every day. 2025 marks a significant milestone: 50 years of HSE working tirelessly to protect workers. Sarah Albon, HSE's Chief Executive, said it best: "The principles set out in this ground-breaking piece of legislation are as relevant as ever...We remain committed to making sure people are safe and healthy wherever work is taking place." As we celebrate this incredible anniversary, let's all do our part: ✅ Always wear the correct PPE ✅ Lift with your knees, not your back ✅ Regularly review guidelines to stay up-to-date on best safety practices If you're in the UK and not subscribed to HSE's e-bulletins, be sure to sign up on their website! It’s an invaluable resource to stay informed about the latest health and safety guidelines. Here's to 50 years of progress and a continued commitment to a safer, healthier workforce. 👷♂️💼👷♀️ #HSE50Years #HealthAndSafety #WorkplaceSafety
