Space North East England's first time as exhibitors at Space-Comm Expo in Glasgow has been a great way of catching up with contacts we have known a wee while and to engage with a whole lot of new people and companies from near and far. A roll-call of North East companies and Universities were there... evidence below and many others we didn't get round to photographing! And well done to the Spinterns from Nascent Semiconductor who were there to showcase their projects.

I am looking for two soon to be graduates that fancy studying for a PhD in Quantum Technology starting in October 2024. We have a number of fully funded PhD studentships for people interested in a range of topics from fundamental studies to the use of quantum technology to enable fundamental physics measurements and from the development of novel sensors to PNT systems. We’re empowering future makers through a £5.8million EPSRC funding award for offshore wind innovation https://lnkd.in/eiBZj2gf announced today by Science, Innovation and Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan.   The new research centre, led by the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull with Durham University, Loughborough University & The University of Sheffield will energise the UK’s offshore wind ambitions with 65 doctoral researchers over 5 years.   Hull's Vice Chancellor, Professor Dave Petley said: “I’m absolutely delighted that our new Centre for Doctoral Training has been funded. Offshore wind is a key part of the UK, and indeed the global, energy mix as we move to Net Zero. The Centre will play a key role in both developing the skills needed to drive this exciting technology and in providing underpinning research across a wide variety of activities in this field. It will continue to provide a brilliant network of key industrial partners and universities, allowing the UK to enhance its position as a world leader in offshore wind energy.”   Recruitment of our first cohort of students will open soon, with the successful candidates enrolling in September 2024.
