Earlier this week, Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband met with representatives from various trade unions to explore plans for our new Office for Clean Energy Jobs within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Establishing the Office for Clean Energy Jobs is part of the government’s plan to reach clean energy by 2030 and highlight the substantial jobs opportunities from this transition - getting more people working in clean energy and green sectors, helping us to achieve our net zero ambitions, boost the UK’s energy independence and unlocking investment and growth 👷♂️ 📈

Here's a statement from Matthieu Hue, our Chief Executive, following the announcement from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero of the increase in the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 6 budget: “It is great to see that the government has taken action by increasing the budget for this year’s renewable energy auction. We must accelerate the deployment of renewables to meet our net zero targets and the Contract for Difference is a key mechanism to enable this. “This is good news not just for the renewables industry but for the entire UK, as it means we will be able to deliver greater amounts of clean energy, lower bills and energy security. “We would have liked to have seen a greater budget increase for floating offshore wind, as we believe it will play a pivotal role in the UK’s ability to reach our climate change targets. “We look forward to continuing to work with UK government to meet 2030 ambitions.” https://lnkd.in/ebCbeHcf #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #OffshoreWind #FLOW

We're committed to tripling the UK’s solar power capacity by 2030. Solar power is just one of the ways we're reaching our net zero ambitions with clean, affordable and reliable energy that works - even on cloudy days! To help speed up delivery and generation, the government have granted three solar farms development consent orders and reactivated the Solar Taskforce, co-chaired by Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband. But how do solar panels generate energy? Here’s Ed Crossland from Oxford Photovoltaic with more on this 📽️
