The Office of the National Freedom to Speak Up Guardian for the NHS * Making speaking up business as usual *
About us
The National Guardian's Office supports the work of the National Guardian for the NHS and Freedom to Speak Up Guardians in NHS Trusts, Foundation Trusts and other organisations. The National Guardian’s Office supports positive cultural change across health through training and supporting a network of Freedom to Speak Up Guardians, disseminating good practice, undertaking case reviews, and works across the health system to tackle barriers to speaking up. The Office looks at instances where good practice isn’t followed and make recommendations for improvement as part of our case review process.

Thank you National Guardian's Office As leaders, we play a key a key role in creating environments where staff feel safe to speak up and know their concerns will be acted on. Creating a listening culture across our NHS system is vital and I encourage all leaders and organisations working in the NHS to review the NHS England updated FTSU guide for leaders and self-reflection tool NHS England https://lnkd.in/etaq8GJW to ensure local arrangements are effective and that all NHS trusts have adopted the national speak up policy https://lnkd.in/egsuNQQZ.
As this year's Speak Up Month draws to a close, Dr Ronke Akerele, Director of Staff Experience at NHS England reflects on the power of listening to improve safety, resolve issues, and foster a just, restorative culture where learning thrives. https://lnkd.in/epHT6AmT #ListenUp #FTSU #CompassionateLeadership

Today is not only about listening to our staff as part of Speak Up month but also listening to our residents and families as part of our regular resident and relative engagement meetings at the Healthcare Management Trust’s St Quentin Care Homes site. The importance of listening should never be underestimated. Feeling heard can have a massive impact! 🗣️👂 #heretolisten #speakup #ListenUp #thesmallthingsmatterthemost #anothergreenoutfit Lorraine Abbiss RN
